Greaves, Taylor, Donacien: Ipswich injury news and potential return dates ahead of Manchester United

Ipswich defied the odds to win their first league game of the season last weekend but the game against Manchester United will present a different test.

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has revealed that he expects three injured players to be available after the upcoming international break. This comes after their recent victory over Tottenham, which has breathed new life into their Premier League campaign.

The weekend’s trip to north London came too soon for key defensive duo Axel Tuanzebe, recovering from hand surgery and Jacob Greaves (hamstring), as well as midfielder Jack Taylor (also hamstring). However, all three are making good progress in their recoveries.

With the international break ahead, here is an update on their injury list and potential return dates:

Chiedozie Ogbene

The Irish winger tore his Achilles and is closing in on a return after undergoing surgery in the summer. Manager McKenna said of his recovery: “Chiedozie had surgery yesterday. It was an Achilles tear. It's unlikely he'll play much, if any, football this season. We’ll be looking at preparing for next season.”

Nathan Broadhead

There is little doubt that the forward has been missed, but the good news is that he’s almost back and could be involved after the international break. McKenna said: “He will remain with Town during the international break as he deals with a minor groin issue.”

Wesley Burns

The winger has been sidelined due to a knock, but there is a chance he could return after the break, with a potential return date of 24/11/2024.

Jacob Greaves

McKenna explained: “Jacob has a hamstring injury from the West Ham game and will be out for at least a few weeks. Ben Johnson sustained an injury very late in the week in training.”

Jack Taylor

Another Republic of Ireland player with an injury, but he is getting close to returning.

Janoi Donacien

The defender has a small ankle injury but should be back in training soon. McKenna added: “He’s just returned from international duty and has a small ankle injury. He’s still with us, receiving treatment, and we’re looking at the next steps. As I’ve said many times, he’s a top, top player and an outstanding person, and I think there’s a big demand for his services.”
