Newcastle United £26m target attracting 'interest' as Nottingham Forest and Everton eye deals
Latest news and rumours from around the Premier League involving Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Everton
Newcastle United have been linked with Inter Milan playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu this summer. In this latest update regarding his situation, he is now attracting ‘interest’ from Turkish giants Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, according to CaughtOffside. The report suggests his price tag is £26million.
Calhanoglu, 31, is a Turkey international with 97 caps under his belt. He has made 562 appearances in all competitions so far in his career and has scored 126 goals, 11 of which came last season. The attacking midfielder has had spells in the past at Karlsruher, Hamburg, Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan and his future is up in the air right now.
The 3am verdict: The door is still open for Newcastle United to swoop in for Hakan Calhanoglu this summer. At just £26million, he would be an absolute steal for Eddie Howe’s side. It is no secret that they could do with some more players in this window. Calhanoglou would fit the bill and although he is over 30 now, he still has a few years left in him.
Nottingham Forest target Dan Ndoye as Anthony Elanga replacement
Nottingham Forest are interested in Bologna winger Dan Ndoye, according to reporter Marco Giordano on X. The Reds are being linked with a swoop for the Serie A attacker. They could see him as an ideal replacement for Anthony Elanga, who has been sold to Newcastle recently.
The 24-year-old moved to Italy in 2023 and hasn’t looked back since. Prior to his transfer, he had stints with the likes of Laussane-Sport, OGC Nice and FC Basel. He has settled in nicely at Stadio Renato Dall'Ara and has fired 11 goals in 75 outings.
The 3am verdict: Nottingham Forest need more bodies in their squad to deal with the increased number of fixtures that will come their way now they are in Europe. Bologna’ Dan Ndoye would inject more pace and power into Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. He has shown in Italy that he is a tricky customer and has also made 22 caps for the Swizterland national team so far in his career so has some decent pedigree behind him.
Everton on verge of Jordan Pickford breakthrough
Everton are on the verge of securing a new contract for goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, as per The Sun. The England international is set to commit his future to the Toffees. They have brought in Mark Travers from AFC Bournemouth recently to add cover to their goalkeeping department ahead of next term.
Pickford, 31, has been with the Merseyside club since joining them back in 2017. Prior to his move, he rose up through the ranks at Sunderland. He has since played 319 matches altogether and is now poised to stay for longer.
The 3am verdict: Keeping Jordan Pickford at the club will be a massive boost for Everton. He is a dependable option between the sticks for the Toffees and is a safe pair of hands. The stopper has been a great servant over the last seven years and will be looking forward to moving into their new stadium under David Moyes.
