Arsenal and Man City 'watching' Europa League winner as Liverpool man attracts new 'interest'

The latest transfer talk from across the Premier League regarding Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City

Premier League football is back this weekend following the international break. Liverpool host Chelsea on Sunday afternoon at Anfield and both sides head into that one having only lost once each so far this season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is facing an uncertain long-term future with the Reds. His contract with the Merseyside giants expires in June 2025 and in this latest update regarding his situation, talkSPORT claim Barcelona and Bayern Munich are showing ‘interest’ in landing him along with Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old, who has made 33 caps for the England national team, has been on the books at Liverpool for his whole career to date and has risen up through their academy ranks. He was a regular for them at various different youth levels before breaking into their first-team back in 2016.

Alexander-Arnold has since made 319 appearances in all competitions and has scored 19 goals. It remains to be seen at this stage though whether he will still be with Arne Slot’s side come the next campaign amid attention from abroad.

When asked about his situation as well as Mo Salah’s and Virgil van Dijk, Slot said in his pre-Chelsea press conference: "What is happening is they were with their national teams. Trent scored a fantastic free kick, which I'm saw you saw. (It's the) same question, same answer. There will always be talks with our players It's a good thing you asked about it because it shows they do well. If they played badly, then you wouldn't have asked. It's a good thing everybody wants their contract renewed because that shows me that they are doing well. But I can't tell you anything about that."

The 3AM Verdict: It would be a massive blow to Liverpool if they lost Trent Alexander-Arnold, especially on a free transfer. They may have to sell him for a fee in January if he wants to leave to avoid losing him for nothing. The chance to play abroad for any one of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich would be an exciting new challenge for him.

Arsenal and Manchester City eye attacker

Arsenal and Manchester City are ‘watching’ Atalanta attacker Charles de Ketelaere, according to CaughtOffside. Fellow top flight teams such as Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and West Ham have all also been mentioned as potential suitors.

De Ketelaere, who is 23-years-old, spent the last campaign on loan with his current club before they made his switch permanent this past summer. He has become one of their most prized assets and has scored 15 goals in 60 matches for them in all competitions to date.

The Belgium international started out at Club Brugge before catching the eye of AC Milan. The Serie A giants snapped him up in 2022 but he struggled to make an impact at the San Siro.

His change of scene to Atalanta has done him good and he has become a key player. He helped them win the Europa League last term after they beat Bayer Leverkusen in the final.

The 3AM Verdict: Arsenal and Manchester City could both see De Ketelaere as someone to bolster their attacking department as they battle it out for the title. He is a decent age, has potential to get better and has been in great form. However, the one worry with him is the fact that he struggled to make an impact at AC Milan.
