England player ratings vs Wales: two score 9/10 as Arsenal and Crystal Palace pair shine
Player ratings from England’s 3-0 win over Wales in World Cup qualifying.
England comfortably beat Craig Bellamy’s Wales 3-0 in their latest World Cup qualifying clash. The Three Lions scored all of their goals in the opening 20 minutes at Wembley and could afford to take their foot off the gas after that. Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins and Bukayo Saka got their goals.

Thomas Tuchel’s side dominated the match for large spells and had 64% possession. They had 17 shots in the end, five of which were on target. Here are our ratings for each of their players following their straightforward outing...
Manchester City defender John Stones receives England minutes
Jordan Pickford - 7: The Everton goalkeeper will be pleased to have picked up another clean sheet for England. Tuchel’s side have three in a row now and he was largely a spectator against Wales. He made a couple of solid saves in the second-half.
Ezri Konsa - 7: He played at right-back and again proved his versatility. Aston Villa’s defender is proving to be a useful option for the Three Lions to call upon. He didn’t put a foot wrong and got up and down the flank when needed.
John Stones - 7: Manchester City’s centre-back has played internationally in almost a year. It was like he had never been away and it was a relaxed evening for the Yorkshireman. He will be relieved to have got through the game injury free as well.
Marc Guehi - 9: Crystal Palace will face a major battle to keep hold of him in the January transfer window. He is becoming one of England’s main men. Wales didn’t have any luck against him and he has further boosted his reputation in the game.
Djed Spence - 7: He looked sharp at full-back in his second cap. The full-back combined well with Anthony Gordon and has given Tuchel something to think about. He has had an impressive start to the campaign at Tottenham Hotspur under the guidance of Thomas Frank.
Arsenal star Declan Rice impresses for England against Wales
Elliot Anderson - 8: He missed a chance to get a goal but apart from that, it was another decent display from the Nottingham Forest midfielder for England. The 22-year-old will be eyeing more appearances over the coming months. His focus will soon switch to club duties as Forest look to turn their fortunes around under Ange Postecoglou.
Declan Rice - 8: It was another calm performance from the Arsenal man in the middle of the park. He dictated the game and caused Wales problems. The ex-West Ham man was also captain with Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane not playing.
Bukayo Saka - 9: He was arguably England’s biggest threat on the night. The winger scored a superb goal early in the first-half. Saka now has 13 goals to his name for his country and was a real menace all match for the hosts.
Morgan Rogers - 8: The Aston Villa attacking midfielder managed to get on the score-sheet for the Three Lions for the first time. His pace and power caused issues for the Wales back-line. It has been a tough start to this term for him at Villa Park so the confidence boost should do him good.
Antony Gordon - 8: His speed and directness is an effective weapon for Tuchel. He will be eager to earn a call-up for the World Cup next summer and is going the right way about getting one right now. The forward played well and probably should’ve scored.
Ollie Watkins - 7: Like with Rogers, he hasn’t lived up to his ability in the league for Aston Villa. Nevertheless, he played fine against Wales and scored. He went off at half-time though after colliding with the goalpost.
Substitutes: Marcus Rashford 7, Ruben Loftus-Cheek 6, Jordan Henderson 6, Jarrod Bowen 7, Morgan Gibbs-White 6, Myles Lewis-Skelly 6.
