Haaland, Palmer, Ødegaard and more: Gameweek 6 FPL injury news ahead of Newcastle v Arsenal
The latest Fantasy Premier League injury news - featuring updates on Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer and more.
Another Fantasy Premier League deadline is almost upon us, and once again there are a host of key players carrying injuries into the weekend – so we’re rounding up all the latest news from across the top flight to help you stay informed.
Erling Haaland’s potential back injury will cause concern for the many players who had hoped to triple captain him against Burnley, while Cole Palmer, Martin Ødegaard and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are among the widely-owned players whose participation is in doubt.
We’ve got the latest updates on all of those players and many more below and will keep updating our information as the managers’ pre-match press conferences take place on Friday.
Will Erling Haaland & Cole Palmer play this weekend?
Erling Haaland: The striker came off against Arsenal with around 15 minutes left on the clock after complaining of back pain - but Pep Guardiola confirmed on Friday that Haaland was “ready” to go against Burnley, much to the relief of millions of players. The messages coming out of the Etihad had been largely positive all week, so it seems as though you’re good to use those triple captain chips.
Cole Palmer: A recurring groin injury has spoiled Palmer’s season so far, but despite Enzo Maresca claiming that he was being assessed “day by day” ahead of Chelsea’s game against Brighton, he has now been ruled out for three weeks, sidelining him until after the October international break. Palmer owners haven’t had much luck this season – but at least Bukayo Saka is back.
Martin Ødegaard: Ødegaard has been struggling with a shoulder injury that has ruled him out of the last three games, but Arteta has described him as “totally fine” and he is expected to be available for Sunday’s game against Newcastle after training during the week. Noni Madueke, sadly, is out for at least six weeks with a knee issue, and likely longer.
Dominic Solanke & Randal Kolo Muani: Anyone contemplating Spurs strikers should probably hold their powder a little longer. Solanke (ankle) and Kolo Muani (dead leg) were both minor doubts for the weekend, and although both are expected to be back to full fitness soon they have been ruled out of the game against Wolves.
Ismaïla Sarr: The Crystal Palace winger will take on an even more important role with Eberechi Eze gone, and has now been passed fit to play against Liverpool, according to The Evening Standard. FPL players gambling on new signing Yéremy Pino will be happy to hear that he is also back in training.
Marc Guiu: A popular budget-friendly inclusion in many teams despite his recall to Chelsea, Guiu may also miss out through injury this weekend after he picked up a minor muscle injury. It is not believed to be serious, although one assumes that he’s on your bench anyway. He certainly should be.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Murillo among big defensive doubts for Gameweek 6
Aaron Wan-Bissaka: West Ham’s struggles haven’t dissuaded many players from keeping the right-back in their team, and he’s still in nearly 10% of all FPL teams despite missing the last three Premier League matches with an abdominal injury. He remains a major doubt for the weekend but there’s no confirmation of whether he’ll play one way or another.
Murillo & Nikola Milenković: The Nottingham Forest centre-back is back in training but was described as “not comfortable” by Ange Postecolgou and didn’t travel to Spain for the 2-1 win over Real Betis. He remains a major doubt for the weekend and sounds likely to be out of the starting XI. Fears over Milenković’’s fitness seem to be exaggerated, however – he limped off in Seville but it seems to have been a bout of cramp rather than a serious injury.
Maxim de Cuyper & Yankuba Minteh: Budget defender choice De Cuyper will be fit this weekend after a knock, according to Fabian Hürzeler, and he also added that in-form winger Minteh “will be fine” after he missed a couple of days of training.
Fabian Schär: The Swiss centre-half has been orange-flagged with a head injury but is not expected to be involved after taking a blow during the defeat to Barcelona at St. James’ Park.
Rayan Aït-Nouri, Omar Marmoush & Abdukodir Khusanov: Aït-Nouri is in plenty of teams but is not expected to be back in training until next month and probably won’t feature again until after the international break. Marmoush wass, like Schär, listed as a doubt on the FPL app but is considered extremely unlikely to return until early October, at least. Abdukodir Khusanov, who has had a run of starts recently, will be out for three games.
