How Arsenal's stunning £423m starting XI could look this season - if latest transfer targets are signed

The Gunners are being linked with a number of big name swoops this summer

Another year, another opportunity to dethrone Manchester City. Maybe. Arsenal have come awfully close to toppling Pep Guardiola’s men in recent seasons, but have now fallen short on consecutive occasions. Mikel Arteta will be desperately hoping that 2024/25 will be different, however.

The Gunners have a remarkably solid foundation on which to build their next title bid, but will also be aware that an astute signing or two would go a long way towards aiding their cause. To that end, plenty of players have been linked with moves to the Emirates already this summer, and at least one deal appears to be edging ever closer to completion.

But how could Arsenal line up next season if they land all of their men? We’ve taken a look at their potential starting XI next season below...

David Raya - GK

Signed permanently from Brentford this summer having initially joined on loan last year, the Spaniard has fended off Aaron Ramsdale and is Mikel Arteta’s undisputed number one in North London.

Ben White - RB

Arguably one of the best right-backs in the Premier League last season, White continues to grow and develop in an Arsenal shirt.

Gabriel Magalhaes - CB

Perhaps still underrated by some, especially compared to centre-back partner William Saliba, Gabriel is a valued and effective member of Mikel Arteta’s squad. A key part of the meanest defence in the Premier League last season.

William Saliba - CB

For many, the best central defender in the Premier League. Classy in possession and unrelenting in his defensive work, the Frenchman is a sublime talent.

Riccardo Calafiori - LB

By the time you read this article, Calafiori may already have been unveiled as an Arsenal player. Even if he has not, it is surely only a matter of time. The Italian is a brilliant young talent who can play as both a centre-back and a left-back, but who will likely be deployed out wide more often than not by Arteta.

Declan Rice - CM

A top performer for the Gunners since arriving from West Ham, Rice will be looking to kick on again over the coming months. If Arsenal are to win a Premier League title in the near future, he will play a large part in making that happen.

Fabian Ruiz - CM

One of the best players at Euro 2024, Ruiz appears to be surplus to requirements at current club Paris Saint-Germain, and Arsenal have been touted as one prospective suitor. What a signing he would be for the Gunners, if they could pull off a deal.

Martin Odegaard - CM

An essential presence for Arsenal, Odegaard creativity and leadership has been a key facet in their transformation into regular title contenders. There aren’t many better than him in world football.

Bukayo Saka - RW

Arsenal’s star boy. So much of the Gunners’ best attacking work comes from the England international, and the prospect of losing him is simply unthinkable.

Viktor Gyokeres - ST

The big Swede left Coventry City for Sporting CP last summer, and immediately set about tearing the Portuguese top flight to shreds. An electric campaign has alerted several top European sides, including Arsenal, to his work, and it is understood that he has a release clause of around £86 million.

Gabriel Martinelli - LW

The Brazilian struggled a little last season, but has looked sharp of late, and the hope will be that he can bring his very best to Arsenal’s title tilt next term.
