Aston Villa 2025/26 wild third kit 'leaked' as fans brand bold new design as 'woeful'

Aston Villa’s new third kit for the 2025/26 season appears to have ‘leaked’ ahead of release.

The brand new Aston Villa third kit for the upcoming 2025/26 season appears to have been revealed in online leaks – and it’s unusual look has drawn some extremely mixed reviews from fans on social media.

Villa’s new home kit, with its ornate sleeve patterning, has already been released, but this is our first unofficial look at either of their change strips for the coming campaign, and Adidas’ unique design means its likely to either go down as a cult classic or as a minor disaster…

What Aston Villa’s new third kit for the 2025/26 looks like – according to leaks

According to the image which has circulated on social media (shown above), Aston Villa’s latest shirt features a distinctive lilac and pale blue pattern across the chest and sleeves of a white shirt.

The design is apparently inspired by stained glass windows, a detail revealed in earlier leaks which offered an accurate insight into the home kit prior to its release, although the abstract pattern takes a very impressionistic angle at that particular concept.

Dark and pastel blue stripes decorate the collar and sleeve trim, while the simplified version of Aston Villa’s club crest, the manufacturer’s logo – the alternate Adidas trefoil in this case - and front of shirt sponsor are all picked out in the same darker shade of blue.

As is often the case with Adidas jerseys, three blue stripes also appear across the shoulders, although in this case they only stretch from the neck to the top of the sleeve rather than all the way down. A simple ‘AV’ logo is stitched into the nape of the neck.

The apparent leak cannot be verified as yet and Footy Headlines have even suggested that it may not be the final design, implying that the image could be a prototype, but we should find out soon with the kit likely to be close to its official release given the proximity of the start to the new season.

Aston Villa fans react to strange new shirt design

Based on the first reviews coming in from Villa fans on social media, many of them may well hope that the new leaks prove to be wide of the mark – because the reaction has been deeply mixed, and a fan who simply opined that “I don’t know how to feel” may have caught the mood exactly.

Some fans described the jazzy new design as “woeful” and “awful”, but others were far more positive, calling it “trendy” or simply replying “I love it”. Overall, negative responses seem to be in a majority, but then this is social media we’re talking about…

Old leaks, which suggested a design which stays much closer to the ‘stained glass window’ concept which we believe the shirt will have, may suggest a different shirt is on the shelves when Villa finally release their change strips, and that could be a popular result based on the early feedback.

Whatever Villa look like as they take to the turf at Villa Park next season, the fans will probably be more concerned with a frustratingly slow start to the summer transfer window in which the club have missed out on Marcus Rashford and could end up losing Morgan Rogers.
