Konsa, Onana & Cash: Latest Aston Villa injury news and expected return dates ahead of Leeds showdown
The latest Aston Villa injury news - with updates on the fitness of Matty Cash, Ezri Konsa, Amadou Onana and more.
Aston Villa return to action this Sunday when they visit Leeds United in the Premier League – but their preparations for the match have been derailed by a number of fresh injury worries.

Ezri Konsa, Amadou Onana, Matty Cash and Lamare Bogarde all picked up knocks over the course of the international break and are now doubts for the weekend, meaning that Unai Emery could be forced to make do without as many as six first-team players in total.
We’ve got all of the latest Aston Villa injury news and updates below ahead of the trip to Elland Road, along with the stricken players’ expected return dates when available.
Will Ezri Konsa, Amadou Onana & Matty Cash be out for Aston Villa?
The international break failed to pass without incident, with four players either returning home early or being left out of matches due to fitness concerns – including defender Ezri Konsa, who returned to Villa Park after England’s win over Serbia after feeling tightness in his calf.
Similarly, Lamare Bogarde left the Netherlands Under-21 camp without featuring in either of their matches, although the Dutch FA’s statement, which described Bogarde as having “minor symptoms” without specifying further, implied that it may have been due to illness rather than injury.
Elsewhere, Amadou Onana was left out of Belgium’s squad for their routine win against Liechtenstein on Tuesday evening, with the decision reported to be precautionary due to an unspecified injury, while Matty Cash also remained on the bench for Poland’s defeat of Malta due to what national manager Jan Urban described as a “minor injury.”
Villa are set to assess all four players when they return to Bodymoor Heath this week and no decisions have yet been taken as to the availability of the quartet. None of them are believed to have sustained significant injuries but all are doubts for the game against Leeds and perhaps for the Europa League tie with Young Boys next Thursday as well.
Tyrone Mings among other injury concerns ahead of Leeds match
Aston Villa are also set to be without defenders Tyrone Mings and Andrés García once more as the pair recover from long-term injury problems, with Spanish full-back García likely to return first.
García, who signed from Levante last season, hasn’t yet been able to play a match during the 2025/26 campaign due to an undisclosed muscular injury which has been troubling him since July. Emery described him as “progressively getting better” at the end of October and while he isn’t expected to be available to face Leeds, there is optimism that he will be an option once more in early-to-mid December.
32-year-old Mings, meanwhile, injured his hamstring during the 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at the start of November and is expected to be sidelined until the new year as a result – a precise return date has not been set, but he is expected to be out for around two months, suggesting that home game against Nottingham Forest on 3 January will be the most optimistic target.
