Kluivert, Wood & Alexander-Arnold: Latest FPL injury news for Gameweek 33

The latest FPL injury news ahead of Gameweek 33 - with updates on Kluivert, Wood, Aina, Alexander-Arnold and more.

It’s time for another massive weekend in the Fantasy Premier League, with four teams playing twice in Gameweek 33 – but as always, there are plenty of injuries to worry about as you make your transfers and decide which chips to play.

Justin Kluivert, Chris Wood, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Phil Foden and Son Heung-Min are among the notable FPL players whose availability is in doubt ahead of this weekend’s fixtures, and as always we’ve listened in to all the press conferences and kept across the news to bring you all the latest updates on those players and more.

And if you also need some more general help ahead Saturday’s deadline – such as whether to make Bukayo Saka or Omar Marmoush your captain, or whether you’re meant to bench Alexander Isak – don’t forget to check out our resident FPL expert’s latest advice column by clicking here.

Justin Kluivert

Kluivert’s superb form had made him one of the most widely-owned players in the FPL before a muscular injury forced him to sit out three straight games – but Andoni Iraola has some good news for Bournemouth fans and the 12.4% of players who still have the Dutchman in their squad.

It’s “the plan” for him to play against Crystal Palace this weekend, and Kluivert “will be available if he trains normally”, according to Iraola. Bournemouth have so fairly tricky fixtures coming up soon, however, so this might not be the time to buy him back.

Chris Wood & Ola Aina

Good news for anybody looking for a mid-price striker – after missing a few weeks since he picked up an injury on New Zealand duty, Chris Wood should be back in time for Monday night’s match against Spurs.

Nuno Espirito Santo said during his press conference that he was “confident” that Wood would be “better” by the time the game comes around, but he’s less sure about Ola Aina. The defender is “day by day” with a calf injury and will be assessed over the weekend. Very much a doubt.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Some slightly surprising news emerged from Arne Slot’s press conference on Friday morning – Trent Alexander-Arnold could be ready to play against Leicester this weekend after missing three matches with an ankle injury.

It had been expected that the impending free agent would be out for a little longer, but the England man is back in training and “might be on the bench” if things go well. Slot did make it clear that he wouldn’t start however, so don’t buy him this week.

Son Heung-Min

The South Korean winger hasn’t been the FPL force he had been in seasons past this year, but over 5% of players still have faith in Son – he may, however, miss out this weekend thanks to the foot injury which sidelined him for the Europa League quarter-final win over Eintracht Frankfurt. According to Ange Postecoglou, he has been dealing with the injury for “weeks”. No clarity yet on whether he’ll feature on Monday, but he seems to be a significant doubt.

Phil Foden & Ederson

Phil Foden had been yellow-flagged with a knock, but returned to training on Friday and according to Pep Guardiola he’s “moving really well” – it sounds like he’s in line to play a rule part this weekend. Goalkeeper Ederson, however, will miss at least one match with a groin injury. Guardiola said that the club didn’t know if he would be out for any length of time.

Kaoru Mitoma

Good news from the south coast – after missing the 2-2 draw with Leicester City last week, winger Kaoru Mitoma “is back” for the weekend, according to Fabian Hürzeler. Jan Paul van Hecke returns from suspension, too, should you be on the lookout for a budget-friendly defender.
