The blockbuster Chelsea and Bournemouth transfer swap deal that would leave Man United shell-shocked
Chelsea could look to add more firepower to their squad when the January transfer window opens for business
Chelsea find themselves positioned in 7th place in the Premier League table after their first seven fixtures. They beat high flying Liverpool 2-1 at Stamford Bridge in their latest outing before the international break. Young winger Estevao scored a dramatic late winner against the Reds, whilst midfielder Moises Caicedo also managed to get himself on the scoresheet.
Enzo Maresca’s side should be in confident mood now as they prepare to play Ange Postecoglu’s struggling Nottingham Forest away in their next league outing on Saturday 18th October. The London club have the chance to bring in some new faces when the January transfer window opens up for business. They also have the opportunity to let some players head out the exit door as well if needed to free up space and funds.
Chelsea keen on AFC Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo
According to Fichajes, Chelsea are keen on AFC Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo this winter. The Cherries are expected to face a battle to keep hold of the attacker in the future amid attention from elsewhere. He is under contract in Dorset until 2030 but that is unlikely to prevent interested parties from swooping in.
Semenyo, 25, is a Ghana international with 29 caps to his name. He has been on the books of his current club since joining them back in 2023. The striker has become one of their most valuable assets and has scored 28 goals in 97 games in all competitions to date, six of which have come this season already.
The London-born man rose up through the academy ranks at Bristol City and was a regular for the Robins at various different youth levels. He went on to play 125 games for the first-team at Ashton Gate and found the net on 21 occasions for the Championship club before he made the step up to the top flight with ease. He was also loaned out to Bath City, Newport County and Sunderland in his early career to get some experience under his belt.
Chelsea will see Semenyo as someone to bolster their attacking department. If he joined the Blues, he would give them more firepower at the top end of the pitch. In addition, he would offer Maresca something different to what he has already.
Chelsea should offer AFC Bournemouth swap deal involving Andrey Santos
Chelsea are poised to face competition in pursuit of Semenyo. Manchester United have been mentioned as a potential suitor along with Liverpool, as per Caught Offside. The Red Devils have been poor so far this term and pressure is mounting on Ruben Amorim.
The Blues could heap more misery on their league rivals if they were able to pip them to Semenyo’s services. They should offer Bournemouth the chance to land Andrey Santos in a swap deal plus cash for the forward’s signature. That means the Cherries would get a player in return which would soften the blow of losing one of their main men.
Chelsea are well stocked up with options in Santos’ position in the middle of the park with the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Caicedo ahead of him in the pecking order. Therefore, cutting ties with him would make sense. In addition, he would suit the Cherries’ high energy style of play.
The 21-year-old was acquired back in 2023 after catching the eye in South America at Vasco de Gama. He has since made 11 outings under Maresca’s guidance but isn’t one of the first names on the team sheet though. The Brazilian has been loaned out over recent times to both Nottingham Forest and Strasbourg to boost his development.
