The top class signings Chelsea could still make this summer - including Aston Villa and Man United gems
Chelsea are gearing up for the start of the new 2025/26 Premier League season
Chelsea turned to Enzo Maresca as their replacement for Mauricio Pochettino last year. He caught their eye at Leicester City and managed to win the Championship title during his time at the King Power Stadium. The former Manchester City coach has made a positive impression since his switch to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are back in the Champions League ahead of next season. They also managed to get their hands on the Europa Conference League trophy. Maresca has the chance to freshen up his squad with some more signings over the next couple of months with the window open until 1st September.
Chelsea eye Morgan Rogers
Chelsea are interested in Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers, according to The Athletic. His current club are set to offer him a new deal in an attempt to fend off attention from elsewhere in his services. The 22-year-old has become one of their most valuable assets since his move there. He is close pals with Cole Palmer from their days at Manchester City together and it would be interesting to see the pair reunite.
Rogers, who is an England international with six caps under his belt so far, joined Villa back in January 2024. Prior to his transfer, he also had spells at West Brom and Middlesbrough. He has made 70 appearances in all competitions since his switch to the Midlands and has scored 17 goals, 14 of which came in the last campaign.
The Blues have also been linked with RB Leipig star Xavi Simons, via The Guardian. The 22-year-old would be an eye-catching addition and would inject more quality into their ranks if he joined. He has played 28 games for the Netherlands national team so far in his career and will be eyeing many more down the line. He scored the opening goal in the Netherlands’ 2-1 loss to England in last summer’s Euro 2024 semi-finals.
Simons played for both PSG and PSV before moving to Germany on an initial loan deal that was later made permanent. Leipzig now face a battle to keep hold of him and will likely demand big money for his signature. He has played 76 games for the Bundesliga club to date and has found the net on 21 occasions.
Chelsea linked with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Alejandro Garnacho
Chelsea are said to be keen on PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, as per L’Equipe in France. Maresca may look to bring in another stopper over the coming weeks and the Italian ace would fit the bill. At the age of 26, he has been around for a while and has bags of experience already.
Donnarumma is one of the most talented players in his position in the world and would be a dream option between the sticks for the Blues if they managed to get him. He rose up through AC Milan’s academy and went on to play a whopping 251 times for their first-team as a youngster. The Naples-born man then switched to Paris and has been the first choice at the Parc des Princes over the last four years, winning the Champions League last term.
The Daily Mail have suggested recently that Chelsea are keeping tabs on Alejandro Garnacho’s situation at Manchester United. It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will keep hold of him. Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur have also been mentioned as potential suitors.
Garnacho would give Maresca another option to pick from on the wing. His pace and power can cause real problems to opposition defenders and he is a proven performer at the top level. United would be kicking themselves if he left for a league rival and hit the ground running immediately and there is no reason why Maresca wouldn’t be able to get the best out of him if he was signed.
