Jackson, Madueke, Fofana: Chelsea injury news and return dates ahead of FC Copenhagen and Leicester City
All the latest injury updates from Chelsea ahead of a season-defining week of football
Premier League heavyweights Chelsea remain on the hunt for their first piece of silverware under owner Todd Boehly. The Blues crashed out of both the League Cup and FA Cup in the early stages, but still remain in contention to achieve Conference League glory after winning all of their six league-phase matches in emphatic fashion.
The West London outfit are aiming to become the first team in history to win all three European honours after winning both the Champions League and Europa League in years gone by and are looking ahead to a mouthwatering round-of-16 tie against Danish league leaders FC Copenhagen.
Enzo Maresca’s men have a wealth of talent at their disposal heading into the match but will be more than aware of the threat posed by Copenhagen that did the double over Manchester United in the Champions League last season.
Ahead of an exciting UEFA Conference League showdown we take a look at the latest injury news from inside the Chelsea camp.
Chelsea defensive injury issues
Trevoh Chalobah - doubt: Trevoh Chalobah has emerged as an increasingly important player under Enzo Maresca. The Blues academy graduate, who was deemed surplus to requirements over the summer, has been very solid since being recalled from his loan spell at Crystal Palace but was forced to miss the Southampton victory with a lower back problem. Maresca explained last week that the defender could miss between 7 and 10 days with the setback, meaning he is likely to receive a late fitness test ahead of the trip to the Danish capital. Expected return date: 06/03/2025
Benoit Badiashile - out: French defender Beniot Badiashile remains in the treatment room with a thigh problem but could return in time for the Leicester City game at the weekend. Expected return date: 09/03/2025
Wesley Fofana - returns: Former Leicester City star Wesley Fofana is back in training after suffering a thigh injury. However, Enzo Maresca has warned against rushing the defender back too quickly and it remains to be seen if he will be risked in Denmark. Expected return date: 09/03/2025
Chelsea midfield and attacking injury issues
Romeo Lavia - out: Former Southampton prodigy Romeo Lavia is yet to find his feet in West London after a series of injury setbacks. He is targeting an April return date after sustaining a thigh injury. Expected return date: 02/04/2025
Noni Madueke - out: England international Noni Madueke has struggled to build on his bright start to the season due to injury issues. “Noni ,unfortunately, has a hamstring problem, so, unfortunately, will be out for a little while,” said Enzo Maresca last month. Expected return date: 02/04/2025
Nicolas Jackson - out: Chelsea’s first choice frontman Nicolas Jackson has a thigh issue and is still a few weeks away from a return to action. In his latest update, Maresca said: “Nico is injured and will be out until the international break,” Expected return date: 02/04/2025
Marc Guiu - out: Young Spanish forward Marc Guiu has sustained a thigh injury which rules him out until April. Expected return date: 02/04/2025
