The blockbuster Crystal Palace and Southampton transfer swap deal that could enrage Everton

Everton are keen on signing a quality Southampton prospect - but Crystal Palace could gatecrash the deal

Crystal Palace made history earlier this year by winning the FA Cup under the guidance of Oliver Glasner. They are now competing in the Europa Conference League and could do with some more competition and depth in their squad. The Eagles must ensure that they are ready for the increased workload of fixtures this season.

They started the new 2025/26 Premier League campaign with a useful 0-0 draw away at Chelsea last time out in the league. The South London outfit proved to be a tough nut to crack at Stamford Bridge and will be satisfied with that result. Glasner’s men face Nottingham Forest at home this weekend.

Crystal Palace target Tyler Dibling transfer

Crystal Palace are interested in Southampton gem Tyler Dibling, according to GiveMeSport. They face competition from Everton in pursuit of the player’s signature. The Eagles are set to lose key man Eberechi Eze to Arsenal so need to find an adequate replacement.

Dibling, 19, has a promising future in the game and would be a great long-term option if they managed to get him ahead of the Toffees. He had spells in the academies of the likes of Exeter City and Chelsea and then settled with the Saints.

He was a regular at various different youth levels before breaking into the first-team picture under the guidance of their former manager Russell Martin, who is now at Rangers. The England youth international has become one of their most valuable assets but they face a battle to retain his services amid attention from elsewhere. He has made 43 appearances in all competitions to date and has scored four goals.

Crystal Palace could see him as someone to add more quality to their attacking department. If he joined, he would give them more competition and depth at the top end of the pitch. In addition, he could offer them something different to what they already have at their disposal.

Like Eze, Dibling is the sort of player who excites the supporters and can get fans off their seats. He is still young and has bags of potential to improve down the line. If the Eagles managed to get him, it would be a big statement of intent and would show that they mean serious business.

Crystal Palace should offer Southampton swap deal

Southampton won’t want to lose Dibling but there is an air of inevitability that he will move on. It would be a surprise if they kept hold of him in the Championship. They were relegated from the top flight after finishing in the bottom three along with Ipswich Town and Leicester City and are now eyeing an immediate return under new head coach Will Still, who has managed Stade de Reims and RC Lens in France in the past.

In an attempt to secure Dibling’s services, Crystal Palace should offer a player plus cash as part of a swap deal arrangement plus cash. With that in mind, Romain Esse could be worth offering in exchange for Dibling. The 20-year-old could do with getting some more game.

The Eagles snapped him up last winter from Millwall and he has since played nine matches, chipping in with one goal. However, he is unlikely to break into their starting XI and a temporary exit would make sense. He was left on the bench against Chelsea last weekend which suggests he isn’t part of Glasner’s immediate plans.

Esse played 66 games for the Lions and found the net on seven occasions. His move to the top flight came very sudden though and he doesn’t seem fully ready for the step up yet. A switch to Southampton would help him get his confidence back and boost his development.

The Saints have adapted well to life back in the second tier and beat Wrexham on the opening day in dramatic fashion. They then picked up a solid point away at Ipswich Town in their last outing. Next up for Still’s side is a clash against in-form Stoke City on their own patch.
