The genius £40 million double Everton transfer deal that would fix glaring issue

Not only are the Toffees headed for a new home on Bramley-Moore Dock, they recently confirmed the highly anticipated Friedkin Group takeover. This new era is expected to present Everton with exciting new opportunities, including more room to spread their wings on the transfer market.

The Blues have already been linked with new signings ahead of this summer’s transfer window. One of the glaring issues that needs addressing is their options in attack. Everton have not had the best season in front of goal and are on the market for a new centre-forward to replace the exit-bound Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

With just 34 goals on their Premier League tally for the season so far, only the three teams in the relegation zone have found the back of the net fewer times than the Toffees. We’ve taken a look at some options Everton would benefit from signing this summer.

Who should Everton focus on signing this summer?

Liam Delap

Everton have been linked with a few high profile strikers ahead of the summer but Liam Delap makes a lot of sense. With Ipswich Town now officially relegated, they will soon be in the unwanted position of selling key players and it’s highly likely Delap will be one of the first to go.

It has been reported that the 22-year-old, who has 12 goals in the Premier League this season, will be available for just £30 million following Ipswich’s relegation. This is a very attractive sum for any club interested in his services but Everton would guarantee him a starting role, whereas clubs like Manchester City and Chelsea may use him in a more rotational role.

Former Everton chief Keith Wyness believes Delap would be an ideal fit for the Toffees and should consider the move over clubs challenging in Europe next season.

“His style of play in particular, means that having a break and not playing twice a week would help him. He plays at 100 percent. That’s his attraction – he runs through brick walls. I think playing for a club not in Europe and putting together a stellar Premier League season would be in his best interest,” Wyness told Football Insider.

“Obviously, I think it should be Everton. He could be a classic number nine for the club. He would fit the bill and I think he should consider it.”

Tom Fellows

Everton have limited wide players on their current roster and they could be further depleted at the end of the season when Jack Harrison’s loan expires. The Leeds United man is reportedly eager to stay at Everton beyond the summer but he has produced very little return this season.

To boost their threat in attack, Everton are also monitoring some wingers and Tom Fellows is a leading target. In fact, according to transfer expert Graeme Bailey (via EFL Analysis), the West Brom star is expected to leave The Hawthorns this summer and Everton are the likely destination.

Fellows has contributed just two goals this season but his impressive tally of 13 assists showcases creativity Everton could really benefit from next season. The 21-year-old plays predominantly on the right-hand side, so it’s highly likely he will become the first choice option in that position.

Along with Harrison, Jesper Lindstrom’s loan deal is also due to expire this summer. Back in March, the Danish international told Ekstra Bladet that the ball is essentially in Everton’s court when it comes to a potential full-time deal. The Blues have told him they are happy with his performances but it remains to be seen if he will be kept on beyond this season.

It has been reported that Fellows will cost Everton just £10 million if they want to make a move this summer.
