We asked AI to design new 2026/26 Leeds United home kit - the results were surprisingly good

AI could have Premier League shirt designers worried

Of all Leeds United’s problems this season, despite initial scepticism at least the kit hasn’t been one as The Whites have at least looked good while struggling to score goals from open play or grind out victories.

In fairness, it’s hard to mess up a Leeds shirt or any predominantly all-white kit as the Yorkshire side’s fashion bombs have largely come on their away shirts, though it does look somewhat like a massive Red Bull billboard given the comically large amount of real estate the sponsor’s logo takes up. Having said that, I’d waste no time in shamelessly plastering my face across a Premier League shirt if I had a stake in that club.

Leeds fans weren’t too pleased with the decision to sell a home kit that featured even less design features than the already minimalist 2024/25 design, calling the shirt “lazy” and said Adidas had “designed by numbers”. So we wondered if we could produced something more satisfactory and with much more experience in cutting corners than fashion design, turned to the artificial intelligence Grok for help. Here is what it produced…

Revealed: AI designs Leeds’ new kit for the 2026/27 season

First things first, it’s certainly a better effort than Leeds’ infamous 2018 attempt at a logo redesign. Mind you, short of including brown stains it’d be pretty hard to sink lower than that.

Perhaps the classiest design feature is the rose pattern inspired by the Yorkshire rose that is presumably fair game for Leeds until Huddersfield, Bradford or the greater Sheffield area clubs can get their act together.

“A very faint, tone-on-tone embossed pattern across the front – inspired by the Yorkshire rose (stylised petals repeating in a geometric way),” purrs Grok. “It's subtle enough not to overwhelm but adds texture and depth when you see it in person or under stadium lights.”

However, it’s potentially a bad omen for Leeds given the flower is most famous as the symbol of the Yorkist house who lost the Wars of the Roses and control of the English throne against the Lancastrian at the Battle of Bosworth in 1485. You’ll never sing that.

So it could be bad news to face Burnley sporting such a prominent rose but it’s not a totally defeatist symbol though - Yorkshire beat Lancashire in three of their four cricket meetings in 2025.

Grok also eulogises that “the all-white base with blue/yellow accents is instantly recognisable from the glory days under Don Revie in the 1970s” though it’s hard to see how that distinguishes it from any other era of Leeds kits given those are simply their club colours.

Hilariously, Grok also goes out of its way to specify it’s sticking with Leeds’ classic badge rather than the 2018 fail, describing it as “No clutter – keeping it elegant”. All in all, it’s probably not going to win any awards for revolutionary sports fashion but this is certainly a solid shirt design that wouldn’t look out of place at Elland Road.

It’s certainly much better than Grok’s rather troubling attempt at a new Celtic shirt. You can read all about that disaster here.
