The £25m genius Leeds United goalkeeper signing who could supercharge upcoming Premier League campaign
Leeds United are in the market for new players this summer ahead of next season
Leeds United are back in the big time and have an important summer ahead of them on the transfer front. They have the chance to bring in some new signings over the next couple of months. The Yorkshire outfit also have the opportunity to let some players head out the exit door at Elland Road to free up space and funds to pave the way for reinforcements.

The Whites stormed to the Championship title last season under the guidance of Daniel Farke. They beat Burnley and Sheffield United to top spot and will want to carry their momentum over into the next campaign. Sunderland then joined them in the top flight after beating the Blades in the play-off final at Wembley last month.
Leeds United eye Djordje Petrovic transfer
According to TeamTalk, Leeds are keen on Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic. The stopper, 25, spent this past term on loan at Strasbourg to get some experience under his belt. He is also said to be on the radar of Wolves, Aston Villa and Brentford, as well as Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus and Fiorentina.
Petrovic, who is a Serbia international with seven caps to his name, is due to return to Stamford Bridge for pre-season after his year in France. However, his future is up in the air at this moment in time. He penned a bumper seven-year contract when he joined the Blues but they have a decision to make on what to do with him now.
The goalkeeping position has been a problem area for the Whites over recent times. Frenchman Illan Meslier made a series of high profile errors last season. They didn’t really matter too much in the end though as Farke’s men managed to get over the line. There are massive question marks over whether he can be trusted in the Premier League though.
The experienced Karl Darlow was eventually picked ahead of Meslier. The former Newcastle United is a useful back-up option but it is unlikely that he will be their first choice over the next couple of years. Therefore, they need to bring someone in externally amid links to Petrovic.
Who is Leeds United target Djordje Petrovic and would he suit the Whites?
Leeds must acquire a stopper who is dependable and can be trusted at the top level. Petrovic has played 31 games for Chelsea in the past, 23 of which came in the league. He has also developed his game over the last 12 months in Ligue 1 with Strasbourg under the guidance of ex-Derby County and Hull City head coach Liam Rosenior, helping them get into Europe.
As with any goalkeeper addition though, you never really know how they are going to fare. It is a tough position to play as they are the last line of defence and mistakes are costly. If the Whites brought in Petrovic, he would be thrown in at the deep end and would be under pressure from the off.
Petrovic started his career at Cukaricki and rose up through their academy as a youngster. He was a regular for them at various different youth levels as a teenager before breaking into their first-team. The Pozarevac-born man went on to feature on 86 occasions, despite his tender age.
New England Revolution then lured him over to America in 2022 and he immediately hit the ground running in MLS. He made 48 appearances during his time in the States and caught the eye. Chelsea brought him to England in 2023 on a long-term basis but it appears he may well be packing his bags again soon amid attention from Leeds and some others.
