Leeds United's £133m summer transfer window predicted with Newcastle, Everton, Aston Villa and Liverpool deals
Football Manager 2024 predicts how the summer transfer window could play out for Leeds United.
The summer transfer window has already been a hectic one for Daniel Farke and Leeds United as they look to move on from their Championship play-off heartache.
The defeat against Southampton forced the Elland Road hierarchy into some difficult decisions as they look to contend with the financial impact of facing a second successive season in the second tier. Wonderkid Archie Gray was sold to Tottenham Hotspur in a £35m move that was described as a ‘heartbreaking’ decision by the Elland Road hierarchy.
He is far from alone in leaving the club as the likes of Glen Kamara, Diego Llorente and Robin Koch have all departed since the end of last season. There have been new additions but there is still a need and desire for further new additions. But what other business could Farke conduct before the transfer window slams shut? We fire up Football Manager 2024 to see how the world’s most popular managerial simulation predicts the next month will play out at Elland Road.
Goalkeepers
It was a case of one in, one out for the Whites goalkeeping ranks. The departure of Illan Meslier was confirmed as he joined Marseille in a deal that swelled the Elland Road coffers with £17m. His replacement was Newcastle United veteran Martin Dubrakva, who made a cut price move to Leeds and will compete with former Magpies team-mate Karl Darlow to become Farke’s number one stopper.
Farke’s goalkeeping options: Darlow, Cairns, Dubravka
Defenders

There were no new departures to add to the ones overseen by the real-life Farke - but the virtual Whites boss did complete three notable additions to his defensive ranks. Firstly, the Whites boss raided Championship rivals Sunderland and completed the £12m signing of former Arsenal youngster Dan Ballard before taking Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips on loan. The final deal saw former Newcastle defender Paul Dummett join the Whites on a free transfer.
Farke’s defensive options: Struijk, Wober, Rodon, Cooper, Ballard, Byram, Bogle, Phillips, Dummett
Midfielders
The one additional departure in the middle of the park came with Ilya Gruev’s £2.5m switch to Premier League club Fulham - but Farke made amends with the signings of two international midfielders. Burnley’s Norway international Sander Berge was the most costly as he was landed in a £14m move before Farke took Aston Villa’s Belgian international on a season-long loan agreement.
Farke’s midfield options: Ampadu, Rothwell, Aaronson, Berge, Dendoncker
Forwards

Again, there were no additional departures to the real-life deals conducted so far this summer but Farke did add to his attacking ranks with the £5m signing of Everton star Neal Maupay, who will compete with the likes of Crysencio Summerville, Wilfried Gnonto and Patrick Bamford for a place in Farke’s forward line.
Farke’s forward options: Summerville, Gnonto, James, Bamford, Gelhardt, Joseph, Maupay
