Liverpool predicted line-up vs Ipswich: ten made changes as £199m trio earn starts under new boss Arne Slot
The latest Liverpool injury update, team news and predicted XI ahead of their 2024/25 Premier League opener against Ipswich Town
For the first time since 5 August 2015, Liverpool will be led into a new Premier League season without the familiar presence of long-serving manager Jurgen Klopp.
The German won a total of eight league trophies during his time at Anfield, with the most memorable honours being the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020, when they ended their long 30-year wait for a title.
In many ways, Klopp changed Liverpool for the better and restored the club back to a status that they hadn’t seen since perhaps the days of Kenny Dalglish (first time around) or perhaps even Joe Fagan before him.
For any new manager at any club, first impressions matter. But not since the appointment of Graeme Souness in the early 1990s, has any Reds boss had the pressure to hit the ground running from day one quite like Arne Slot.
The Dutchman, hired from Feyenoord faces the unenviable task of succeeding one of the great dynasties of the modern era and will hope to fare better than the likes of David Moyes at Manchester United and Unai Emery at Arsenal after the departures of Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger respectively.
Slot, so far, has added no new additions to his Liverpool team this summer ahead of a trip to take on Premier League newboys Ipswich, who will be welcoming a host of new additions for their first top-flight match since 2002.
Ahead of the exciting Premier League opener, there is plenty of intrigue surrounding Slot and how he may set-up his Liverpool team at Portman Road. With that in mind 3AM has selected a predicted Reds XI for the game on Saturday.
Liverpool injury news
Liverpool have very few injury concerns heading into the game at East Anglia, but will be without youngster Bobby Clark due to a minor concern surrounding a back problem.
Andrew Robertson and Dominik Szoboszlai are now fit again following minor injuries in pre-season, leaving Arne Slot with the decision to either start them or ease them into the action.
Liverpool predicted XI
Liverpool are likely to start the campaign with a familiar 4-3-3 formation. The Reds ended pre-season with a 0-0 draw against Las Palmas and are likely to make around 10 changes this time around.
In between the posts first choice goalkeeper Allison is preparing for his seventh season with the club. Ahead of him the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, captain Virgil Van Dijk and youngster Jarell Quansah are expected to get the nod alongside a fit again Andrew Roberston.
A familiar midfield trio of Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister are likely to play in the middle of the park, with top scorer Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz providing the attacking threat.
Liverpool line-up: Allison Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil Van Dijk, Jarell Quansah, Andrew Robertson; Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch; Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz.
