‘Beautiful’ or ‘underwhelming’? Brand new Liverpool 2025/26 home kit leaked ahead of release

Liverpool’s new home kit for the 2025/26 season appears to have leaked online ahead of release.

The brand new Liverpool home shirt for the forthcoming 2025/26 Premier League season appears to have been leaked on social media ahead of its official release – and it’s receiving a mixed response from the fans.

This is the first time since 2012 that Liverpool’s kits are being manufactured by Adidas and they appear to have played it safe with the new shirt, throwing back to a classic home jersey from the 2000s. That doesn’t mean that everyone is impressed, however.

What Liverpool’s new 2025/26 home kit looks like – according to leaks

The social media posts above appear to show pictures of the players’ versions of the new shirt, and while they remain unverifiable prior to the official release, they appear to corroborate another image which has been circulating which shows Mohammed Salah wearing the new kit at what is likely to be a marketing photoshoot.

The new shirt is a simple throwback to the Adidas design from the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons, with the traditional plain bright red framed by two thin white lines running from the collar down the sides to the hem.

Just like the shirt once worn by Steven Gerrard, this kit also the classic three white bands that appear on the shoulders of many Adidas shirts, although this kit also has white trim on the shirt sleeves unlike its nearly two-decade old counterpart.

The club’s badge is also different, with the simplified liver bird logo used instead of the full shield design which appeared on the mid-2000s jersey, and the manufacturer’s logo, badge and front-of-shirt sponsor are all picked out in plain white. The nape of the neck also features a small tribute to the 97 who died in the Hillsborough disaster in 1989.

Mixed fan reaction greets new Liverpool kit

The new kit appears to have drawn a mixed reaction from fans on social media so far, with some appreciating its clean and simple design while others supporters appeared to pine for a slightly more adventurous new look.

Some of those commenting online have described the new home shirt as “pretty” and “beautiful” but a few described it as “underwhelming” or “generic”, with the lack of a twist on Liverpool’s classic look an occasional source of frustration.

It may not help matters that many fans will have seen what the new kit might have looked like had Nike kept the license to make the club’s jerseys, with the American sportswear company’s prototypes leaked after the announcement that Adidas would be taking over was made.

No official announcement has been made as to when the new shirt will be released, although it is likely to take place very soon given that the leaked images seem to show a shop-ready kit with its labels still in place.

Alongside the new home shirt, Liverpool will head into the new season wearing a white away kit with red and black trim and a green third kit – a simple and risk-free set of designs from Adidas for the reigning Premier League champions.
