New Liverpool pre-match shirt for 2025/26 leaked online - and it's better than their actual match kit
Liverpool’s new pre-match shirt for the 2025/26 season appears to have leaked online ahead of release.
Liverpool’s new pre-match warm-up kit for the forthcoming 2025/26 Premier League season appears to have leaked online ahead of its official release – with a design inspired by one of Anfield’s most iconic features.
Images of the new shirt appear to have been leaked by Footy Headlines on social media – and have emerged just a day after the first pictures of Liverpool’s brand new home shirt showed up online as well.
What Liverpool’s pre-match training kit for the 2025/26 season will look like - according to leaks
Adidas’ new pre-match shirt, like those in use by many clubs, takes a slightly more experimental route with its design than that which we’re seeing on their in-game jerseys – and in this case, the red and black number takes its inspiration from Anfield itself.
The black shirt is overlaid with a red pattern mimicking the cast iron detailing around the stadium’s famous Shankly Gates, through which many supporters will walk as they head to home matches.
The shirt uses the stripped-back version of the club’s badge with the liver bird rather than the shield, and that is picked out in a brighter red along with the front-of-shirt sponsor and Adidas’ logo.
The bold look of the pre-match kit, which should be available for fans to purchase soon, stands in stark contrast to the new home kit, which appears to have been leaked this week after images of the new shirt were shared on social media…
Pre-match kit set to stand out more than Liverpool’s new home shirt
Reviews of the brand new home kit, which is expected to be released imminently after images of a shop-ready shirt surfaced online, have been mixed – with many fans seeing the shirt as dull while others appreciate its clean design which harks back to the 2000s.
The design is almost identical to the kit worn by the club during the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons, with the white piping down the flanks of the jersey a clear throwback to the shirt worn by Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso and other club legends.
That shirt, too, was designed by Adidas, who have taken over as kit manufacturers from Nike for the first time in over a decade and have seemingly decided to play it very safe for their first season back in the saddle.
Those supporters who have been disappointed by the conservative design direction probably won’t feel any better about the new shirts given that Nike’s supposed prototypes for the kits – to be used had they retained the contract – were also leaked online before the summer.
Still, given that Liverpool are the reigning Premier League champions are currently compiling one of the most expensive and exciting transfer windows in history, we suspect that a relatively unimaginative set of new shirts won’t cause too many frowns on the terraces – but don’t be surprised if a few more fans than normal splash out on the somewhat jazzier pre-match kits this season.
