£75m Liverpool summer target 'would love' Anfield move as Tottenham star linked with Brazilian club

Our take on some of the latest Premier League transfer rumours.

Premier League clubs spent a combined £2.08 billion on new signings during the summer transfer window, while not quite rivalling last year’s record of £2.44 billion, it still turned out to be an eye-watering amount.

There is still unfinished business for some teams though and some top stars remain in the spotlight as we now shift our attention to January. While we wait for the transfer market to open for business again, let’s take a look at some of the latest headlines in England’s top flight.

Liverpool target ‘would love’ Anfield move

Marc Guehi was hot property throughout the summer as multiple clubs made it their mission to coax him away from Selhurst Park. Crystal Palace were able to hold onto their star defender but amid lingering interest from both Liverpool and Newcastle United, Football Insider has reported that Guehi ‘would love to sign’ for the Reds.

The Magpies have been the leading name in the Guehi pursuit recently but the England international reportedly ‘isn’t overly keen’ on a move to St James’ Park and wants to join a ‘bigger club’. Instead, he is aware of Liverpool’s interest and ‘would jump’ at the chance to join Arne Slot’s ranks.

Guehi is under contract with Palace until 2026, so once the season ends, the Eagles may have to seriously consider a deal for him, or risk losing him for free later down the line.

The 3AM Verdict: Palace were looking for £75 million for Guehi during the summer, which is the same price Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk six years ago. With the captain now 33 and into the final months of his contract, it still remains to be seen whether he will extend his stay with Liverpool. Even if he does, the Reds will eventually need to recruit a replacement anyway and snapping up Guehi next year would be a huge statement in their plans for the future. They may even be able to negotiate a lower fee if he hasn’t penned new terms with Palace by then.

Spurs star ‘on radar’ of Brazilian club

Richarlison has appeared on the radar of a club in his home country of Brazil. Vasco da Gama, currently tenth in the Brasileirão, are looking to bring in some new talent and the Tottenham Hotspur forward has been mentioned.

Former Brazil international Edmundo has claimed that his former side are eyeing up Richarlison and he is confident that 2025 ‘will be different’ for the Rio de Janeiro outfit. Speaking on his YouTube channel, relayed via CNN Brasil, Edmundo said: “Now, the idea is to keep all the main players and hire two or three heavyweight players. One for the defence, one for the midfield and two for the attack. Heavyweight like Richarlison. I’m dreaming and I can guarantee that 2025 will be different.”

Richarlison was linked with a move to Vasco da Gama during the summer but a follow-up report from Carlos Berbert shut down the link and stated that the 27-year-old would be staying at Spurs.

The 3AM Verdict: Richarlison scored 11 goals for Spurs last season but his time on the pitch has been limited this term, with an injury now disrupting his time. He is under contract until 2027 but if he continues to struggle for a regular spot under Ange Postecoglou, an exit could eventually be on the cards for the Brazilian. However, at 27, with plenty of years ahead of him, Richarlison may prefer to stay in England or consider a European club to boost his chances of competing for trophies.
