Erling Haaland and Bukayo Saka are among the players who are doubts ahead of big matches against Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur respectively, and there’s no shortage of other key FPL assets struggling with fitness concerns. With decision time fast approaching, we’ve taken a look at the latest news on the potential absentees, with an afternoon update to come after some more of the pre-match press conferences have taken place.

Furthermore, if you’re looking for some ideas on how to get the best out of your remaining FPL chips or wondering when the blank and double gameweeks might be this season, our resident expert has everything you need to know right here.

Erling Haaland & Bukayo Saka among FPL doubts for Gameweek 27

Erling Haaland: The striker missed Manchester City’s FA Cup win over Salford City last weekend with a minor knee injury, and although Pep Guardiola described it as “not a big issue,” there did appear to be at least some chance that he misses out this weekend. Those concerns were dealt with at Guardiola’s press conference, however - when asked whether Haaland was fit, City’s head coach simply nodded. Jérémy Doku is out, however.,

Bukayo Saka: Arsenal’s talismanic winger-turned-number 10 was back to fitness in time to play in the Gunners’ last two Premier League games but was taken off with an apparent knock in the second half against Wolves. Saka seemed to be concerned by his knee and was limping visibly, but The Evening Standard have since reported that he avoided a significant injury and it looks likely that he plays in the North London Derby on Sunday. Needless to say, Mikel Arteta didn’t offer any real clarity on Friday.

Martin Ødegaard, Leandro Trossard & Kai Havertz: Not that Saka is Arsenal’s only injury worry right now. Trossard picked up a knock against Wolves, and is seemingly a major doubt ahead of the weekend. Mikel Arteta also said that he was “hopeful” that Ødegaard and Havertz would be involved against Spurs, but neither is certain to be involved.

Bruno Guimarães: The Brazilian midfielder has been in the wars lately and is now expected to be out for up to two months with a hamstring injury sustained during the recent midweek win over Spurs. A blow for the Magpies and for his many FPL owners – it’s time to sell up.

Yoane Wissa, Sven Botman & Lewis Miley: Newcastle have quite a few players who are doubts ahead of their game at the Etihad – Wissa and Miley are both out, as confirmed by Eddie Howe during his pre-match presser, but centre-back Botman has a chance of being involved in some capacity. Late fitness test territory for the Dutchman, by the sound of it.

Sunderland & Crystal Palace stars among other FPL concerns

Granit Xhaka: A budget-friendly midfield option for many FPL sides, Xhaka has been out for a month with an ankle injury but took to social media to share with supporters the news that he would be “back soon.” Whether that means this weekend remains to be seen, however.

Maxence Lacroix: Palace defenders aren’t quite as fashionable as they once were but Lacroix remains a relatively popular pick – but may not be now after picking up an injury during the midweek draw with Zrinjski Mostar. We don’t have a detailed prognosis yet, but Oliver Glasner certainly seemed to think it was serious.

Mason Mount: The attacking midfield isn’t an overwhelmingly popular FPL choice these days but could become an interesting differential under Michael Carrick given Manchester United’s recent form – and he should be back from a recent lay-off when they play Everton on Monday night.

Dominic Solanke: A late addition to the ranks of potentially injured players, apparently Solanke has a sore throat - but did make it to training ahead of Igor Tudor’s debut as Spurs manager. It sounds like he should make Sunday’s North London Derby, but neither Pedro Porro nor Richarlison well, according to Tudor.
