Walker wants to talk to Bayern

Or rather, he would like his respresentatives to talk to them with regards to the prospect of a move to Germany this summer. According to Sky Sports, the Manchester City full-back has had his head turned by the possibility of playing his football in the Bundesliga next season.

Bayern Munich have been pursuing the England international for a number of weeks now, but as yet there is no agreement in place on a transfer fee. Discussions are ongoing, however, and there is an expectation that there will be face-to-face negotiations when the two clubs play each other in a preseason friendly in Japan next Wednesday. Imagine a significant political summit where the only point on the agenda is Kyle Walker’s future and you’re pretty much there.

It is understood that Bayern are willing to offer Walker a two-year contract with the option of a further third campaign, while City are only considering a one-year extension to Walker’s existing contract, which has a season left to run before it expires.

The 3AM Verdict: Certainly a little left-field, but not entirely out of the realms of possibility. Walker is a quality player who would be an asset to most teams in world football, and there is no questioning that he would do a job for Bayern. As for City, provided they can bring in a suitable replacement - and let’s face it, when do they not? - this would be a blow that they could surely absorb.

Man United keen on Amrabat

Elsewhere, Manchester United are understood to be interested in signing Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat - not to be confused with his brother Nordin Amrabat who is ten years his senior and, at the risk of sounding facetious, called Nordin.

According to 90min, the Red Devils are the latest English club to express their admiration for the Moroccan international, and could look to firm up that keenness having already spoken to the player’s agent. The 26-year-old has entered the final year of his contract in Italy, and is valued at around £26 million by his current employers.

Oh, and Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, and West Ham have also been credited with an interest.

The 3AM Verdict: Amrabat is a top, top player, it really is as simple as that. With the prospect of either Fred, Scott McTominay, or both leaving Old Trafford this summer, reinforcements at the base of midfield would be a smart idea for United, and if they could go out and snap up the Moroccan for just £26 million, it might prove to be one of the bargains of the summer.

West Ham consider Antonio exit

And finally, Football Insider report that Michail Antonio could be the latest Premier League player headed to Saudi Arabia. It is understood that Al-Ettifaq - managed, of course, by Steven Gerrard - have tabled an offer for the 33-year-old, and West Ham are willing to accept it. Say what you like about the former Aston Villa boss, but he is evidently a man who knows what he likes, and what he likes is signing ageing Premier League stars on massively inflated contracts.

As for the Hammers, it is suggested that they have made encouraging noises towards their Saudi counterparts that Antonio will be available in the coming weeks.

The 3AM Verdict:Antonio’s impact at West Ham has notably lessened in recent times, and on the basis of that alone, it wouldn’t be a shock to see him offloaded this summer. Whether the Hammers will then move to bring in another attacking talent remains to be seen, but you would imagine that in an ideal world, David Moyes would love to do exactly that.
