The blockbuster Man City and West Ham transfer swap deal that could see superstars reborn

Manchester City are preparing for the start of the 2025/26 Premier League season

Manchester City will be looking to win the Premier League title next season. Pep Guardiola’s side fell short in the last campaign and weren’t up to their usual standards. Nevertheless, they managed to get into the Champions League in the end and remain in a strong position to push on.

City will likely battle it out with the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal for top spot next term. They have delved into the market this summer already to bring in the likes of Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders, Sverre Nypan and Marcus Bettinelli to freshen things up. They have the chance to acquire more reinforcements over the coming weeks before the deadline on 1st September.

Manchester City need to pursue Lucas Paqueta transfer

City have been long-term admirers of West Ham star Lucas Paqueta. They may now get the perfect opportunity to try and get their man in this window. As per Sky Sports, he looks set to be free from his betting charges case imminently and should be able to continue his career.

Paqueta, 27, was wanted by Guardiola two years ago as he searched for additions. However, they weren’t able to lure him away from the Hammers back then. Fast forward to now and the door may well swing open for them to rekindle their interest in him now.

The Brazil international, who has 55 caps to his name, would be an ideal acquisition for City. He would give them more competition and depth in the middle of the park. In addition, he would give them something different to pick from in games with his impressive left foot.

West Ham snapped him up back in 2022 and he has since become a key player for the London outfit. He has made 120 appearances in all competitions and has chipped in with 18 goals. His contract at the London Stadium expires in June 2027 meaning he still has a couple of years left to run down.

The Rio de Janeiro-born man started out at Flamengo and broke into the first-team of the Brazilian giants as a teenager. He was lured over to Europe from South America as a youngster by AC Milan in 2019. He then spent a couple of years in France with Lyon before his switch to England and hasn’t looked back since.

Manchester City should use Jack Grealish in West Ham swap deal

City should use Jack Grealish as part of a swap deal to tempt West Ham into cashing in on Paqueta. The Aston Villa academy graduate is facing an uncertain future at the Etihad Stadium and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him head out the exit door for a new challenge elsewhere. His time with his current team has turned a bit stale and a change of scene would do him good.

The Hammers are interested in signing him, talkSPORT have claimed, and he would be an ideal replacement for Paqueta. The England international, who has 39 caps under his belt, would give them more quality in their ranks. He is also a proven performer at the top level and has bags of experience now.

Graham Potter was picked as West Ham’s manager last term after they cut ties with ex-Wolves man Julen Lopetegui. The former Swansea City and Brighton and Hove Albion head coach took time out of football after his sacking by Chelsea. However, things haven’t really gone to plan for him with his current team and he will be under pressure to start getting more results when the new campaign begins.

Grealish would be one of the Hammers’ main men if he went there. He is the sort of player that can get fans off their seats and is dangerous when he attacks. City landed him back in 2021 and he has since found the net on 17 occasions in 157 outings under Guardiola’s guidance.
