Mainoo, Shaw and Mount: Manchester United injury list and return dates ahead of Everton trip
The latest Manchester United injury news ahead of their clash with David Moyes’ Everton
Manchester United are sat down in 15th place in the Premier League table. It has been an underwhelming season so far for the Red Devils.
They turned to Ruben Amorim as their manager earlier this winter to replace Erik ten Hag. It has been a mixed start for him in terms of results at Old Trafford.
United are back in action this weekend with an away trip to Goodison Park to face Everton and their former boss David Moyes. Their upcoming opponents have seen an upturn in form over recent weeks.
Manchester United defensive issues
Lisandro Martinez - out. United’s defender is out of action with a long-term knee injury. Amorim has said: “Licha is a difficult situation. He's going to be out for a while. We don't know the extent of the injury, but it's an injury that is going to take time.” Expected return date: 01/01/2026.
Luke Shaw - out. The left-back has had another frustrating campaign and hasn’t been able to have a regular run in the team. His head coach has said: “Luke, just a little bit, one small issue in a different area from the last injury, so we'll try to be careful.” Expected return date: 01/04/2025.
Altay Bayindir - out. United’s back-up goalkeeper hasn’t been seen recently and will need to be assessed. Amorim has said: “Altay, I think he has a problem. So, he is not available for the game. Tom (Heaton) is also not for this game, but he can play the other ones [in the future].” Expected return date: Unknown.
Jonny Evans - doubt. The veteran has been struggling with a back issue over recent times and will be checked on. Expected return date: Unknown.
Leny Yoro - back. The youngster was ill last weekend but should be fine now. Expected return date: 22/02/2025.
Manchester United midfield woes
Mason Mount - out. The former Chelsea man has been in the treatment room with a thigh injury. Amorim shared this latest update in December: “Several weeks. I don't know the exact date, but it's going to be for long. And that’s it, it's part of football, and you continue.” Expected return date: Unknown.
Amad Diallo - out. He has been ruled out until the summer following his ankle/foot problem. He has been one of few positives for the Red Devils so far this term and his absence will be missed. Expected return date: 01/06/2025.
Kobbie Mainoo - out. United’s midfielder picked up an injury in the build-up to their last match against Tottenham Hotspur and didn’t feature at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. In this latest update regarding his condition, he is expected to be sidelined until after the next international break in March which isn’t ideal. That means he will miss upcoming matches against Everton, Ipswich Town, Arsenal and Leicester City. Expected return date: 01/04/2025.
Christian Eriksen - back. He was ill last week which meant he couldn’t play against his former club Spurs. Expected return date: 22/02/2025.
