Man United ready bold £30m swoop for 'new Jude Bellingham' as Liverpool eye bargain full-back
Your round-up of the latest Premier League transfer rumours after another busy weekend of action.
Another busy weekend of Premier League action saw twists and turns aplenty as all 20 teams vied for early-season points. The biggest was saved until last with Arsenal and Manchester City going punch-for-punch with the latter grabbing a later equaliser, while Liverpool, Tottenham and Aston Villa all enjoyed decent results.
Teams are starting to settle down after a busy summer transfer window but those in charge of recruitment will already have an eye on January, identifying areas to strengthen while managing interest in their own stars. With all that in mind, 3 Added Minutes has rounded up some of the latest Premier League transfer rumours.
Gabriel latest
Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are all thought to be interested in Gabriel Magalhaes but Fabrizio Romano reports Arsenal are preparing to enter contract talks with their defender. The Brazilian has cemented himself at the heart of Mikel Arteta’s back-line and is one of the top-flight’s best defenders.
“Gabriel Magalhaes is a leader on and off the pitch, a really important player in the dressing room,” Romano told Caught Offside. “We’re hearing many rumours about Gabriel because of the stories about his contract extension, but what I can guarantee now is that nothing is close or imminent.”
“He remains a crucial player for the Gunners and remember, Arsenal rejected a very important approach from Saudi one year ago. Arsenal will take the time to prepare a new contract proposal to discuss with Gabriel at the right moment. Nothing is going on right now, but for sure, he’s part of the future planning for Arsenal.”
Reds Devils eye Rigg
Sunderland youngster Chris Rigg is piquing the interest of several top clubs and reports claim he is a major target for Manchester United. HITC claim Old Trafford recruitment chiefs ‘firmly believe’ the 17-year-old has a similar ceiling to Jude Bellingham, who United failed to sign back in 2020.
Rigg has long been touted as Sunderland’s next star and is into his second campaign as a regular starter, scoring his first of the season to beat Middlesbrough 1-0 on Saturday. United are said to have been aware of the midfielder since he was 15 but face potential competition from Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid among others.
Having signed a three-year deal just this summer - his first in professional football - Rigg is in no rush to leave his boyhood club but could soon step into the top-flight if Sunderland remain in the Championship. Previous reports have suggested he is worth up to £30million, although that could rise further with a strong season.
Liverpool’s left-back interest
Liverpool are reportedly keeping close tabs on Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez as plans are put in place for life after Andy Robertson. TEAMtalk claim Kerkez is ‘continually’ being watched by Anfield recruitment chiefs, including during Saturday’s Premier League meeting between the two sides.
Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked recently, but neither are thought to be in the mix as things stand, potentially clearing the path for Liverpool to move. Kerkez is only into his second season at Bournemouth, having signed in a £15m deal last summer, but could soon be offered the chance to join a top-level outfit.
