The genius £42m Man United attacker signing who could supercharge their 2025/26 season

Manchester United are in the hunt for some new faces over the next couple of months

Manchester United have already secured the services of Matheus Cunha from Wolves ahead of next season. The attacker has caught the eye at Molineux over recent times. He will now test himself at Old Trafford after penning a long-term deal.

The Red Devils could do with some more new faces though. They finished down in a disappointing 15th place in the last campaign. Ruben Amorim will be under pressure to get results from the off next term.

Manchester United eye Justin Kluivert transfer swoop

According to CaughtOffside, United are ‘long-term admirers’ of £42million-rated AFC Bournemouth attacker Justin Kluivert and are ‘monitoring’ his situation this summer. They could launch a swoop for the Premier League winger over the next couple of months. However, they face competition from league rivals Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United in pursuit of his signature.

Kluivert, 26, joined the Cherries back in 2023 and has since become a key player. They face a battle to keep hold of him now amid attention from elsewhere. The Holland international, who has seven caps under his belt so far, is settled down south but if the right offer comes in for his services, his current club may be forced to sell.

The Amsterdam-born man rose up through the academy at Ajax and was a regular for the Eredivisie giants at various different youth levels. He then broke into the first-team as a teenager before he was lured over to Italy by Roma. He then spent five years on the books of the Serie A club and was loaned out to RB Leipzig, OGC Nice and Valencia.

Bournemouth came calling two years ago and he decided to give England a go. That decision has worked out well for him and he is one of their most prized assets now. He has scored 22 goals in 75 games in all competitions, 13 of which came last season.

Why Justin Kluivert would suit Manchester United

United could see Kluivert as someone to boost their attacking department. If he joined, he would give them more competition and depth on the wing. He is also a proven performer at the top level now and may now be ready to take the next step in his career.

The Red Devils need more of a threat going forward and he is someone who showed last term that he can cause problems to opposition defenders. He is quick, powerful and has great technique on his right foot. In addition, he can also take penalties.

Time will tell whether Amorim’s men will be able to persuade him to move up north. Bournemouth are likely to do every they can to retain him. He is under the terms of a long-term contract in Dorset so they are under no immediate pressure to cash in and can wait for big money.

Other teams have also been mentioned as potential suitors. Liverpool, Spurs and Newcastle can all offer the player European football. Thomas Frank has been appointed as the new head coach at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
