The dream Manchester United and Brentford transfer exchange deal that could enrage Newcastle United

Manchester United may need to get creative in the transfer market this summer

Manchester United have under-performed again this season and it is no secret that they need to inject more quality into their squad. They will get the chance to do just that when the next transfer window opens for business. The Red Devils will also be able to cut ties with some players to help free up space and funds.

Ruben Amorim was picked as their replacement for Erik ten Hag earlier in this campaign. It has been a mixed first campaign for the former Sporting Lisbon. His side have been inconsistent in the league but could still win the Europa League and, somehow, end up playing Champions League football next season despite a disastrous 2024/25 campaign.

Manchester United target Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo

United could do with some more attacking threat and one player who would be ideal for them is Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo. He has proved himself in the Premier League over recent years and knows where the back of the net is. The Bees are likely to face a real battle to keep hold of him amid attention from elsewhere.

The Telegraph claim the Red Devils are keen on signing him along with Newcastle United. The report adds that he is valued at around the £60 million mark. Wolves’ Matheus Cunha has also been mentioned as a potential target.

Mbeumo, 25, would give United another option to pick from in attack if they managed to land him. He rocked up in England back in 2019 when Brentford signed him in the Championship. Prior to his switch to London, he caught the eye in France at Troyes but was a bit of an unknown quantity.

He helped the Bees win promotion from the Football League under Thomas Frank and he has since adapted well to life in the top flight. In fact, he has become one of the most dangerous players in the division going forward. He has fired 68 goals in 238 for his current team in all competitions to date, 18 of which have come in this campaign.

Manchester United should offer Toby Collyer to Brentford to beat Newcastle United

United may need to see off Newcastle if they are to seal Mbeumo’s signature. That is easier said than done as well with the Toon Army potentially in the Champions League next term. Therefore, the Red Devils may need to offer a player in return to try and persuade Brentford to cash in.

Toby Collyer is a bright young talent but might struggle to get into the starting XI on a regular basis in the long run. There is no doubt that he has ability but with the likes of Bruno Fernandes ahead of him in the pecking order, he will have to wait for his opportunity. If he played for another team he would get more game time so United must consider letting him join the Bees in some capacity.

It is yet to be known whether they would sell him permanently to raise cash or let him go on loan to get minutes. His deal runs until 2027 so he has a couple of years left to go. Collyer would give Brentford more competition and depth in the middle of the park if he went there.

The 21-year-old rose up through Brighton and Hove Albion’s youth ranks and was a regular for them at various different levels. In fact, the Worthing-born man played for their Under-18’s at the age of just 15 before moving up north when United came calling. He has since continued his development and has gone on to play 13 matches for the first-team of the Red Devils.

They need to weigh up what to do next with him though. Amorim will want to sign some new talent over the coming months and if someone comes in who plays in his position, Collyer may fall out of favour. If that is the case, joining up with Frank’s men would be the most sensible move for him as opposed to sitting on the bench.
