Man United predicted line-up vs Sunderland: double change made amid Amad Diallo injury update
The latest Manchester United team news and predicted XI ahead of the Premier League clash with Sunderland.
Pressure is growing on Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim as they prepare for their upcoming Premier League clash. They face newly promoted Sunderland at Old Trafford this weekend. Their upcoming opponents went up from the Championship along with Leeds United and Burnley.
The Red Devils have made a slow start to the new season and find themselves in 14th position in the table. They were beaten 3-1 away at Brentford last time out. Amorim’s men have won two of their first six league outings.
Will Amad Diallo be fit for Manchester United vs Sunderland?
United will welcome Amad Diallo back in contention for Saturday. He is in line to play against his former team Sunderland. The Ivory Coast international has returned to training over recent days after missing out of the trip to Brentford due to a family bereavement.
Elsewhere, the Red Devils haven’t got any fresh injury concerns which is a boost. Defender Lisandro Martinez remains a long-term absentee after his ruptured his ACL and he isn’t expected back anytime soon. Meanwhile, defender Noussair Mazraoui is sidelined with a thigh problem but should be available after the international break.
Midfielder Casemiro has one more match left of his suspension. He was sent off against Chelsea late last month. Amorim’s side went on to win that one 2-1 against the Blues after goals by the Brazilian and Bruno Fernandes.
Will Altay Bayindir start for Manchester United vs Sunderland?
United have a decision to make between Altay Bayindir and new boy Senne Lammens between the sticks. Bayindir has been their number one goalkeeper over recent weeks but hasn’t been convincing. They need to pick between him and Lammens but the Turkish stopper is more likely to keep his place than be dropped at this stage.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Amad come in for Diogo Dalot at right wing-back. That would freshen things up and he is a more attacking option. The 23-year-old likes to cut in on his left foot and cause problems for opponents.
On the other flank, Patrick Dorgu likes to get up and down and support attacks. He is speedy and his place is effective for the Red Devils. At the age of just 20, he has potential to get better in the future.
Matthijs de Ligt has had a tough time of it of late but should get the nod again for United against Sunderland in their back three. Luke Shaw occupies the position on the left and injects experience into the side. Amorim could then choose Leny Yoro over Harry Maguire following his recent bright performances.
In midfield, Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte are poised to play again ahead of Kobbie Mainoo. Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha joined over the summer from Brentford and Wolves respectively and are still finding their feet in their new surroundings. Mbeumo has looked sharp and will want to add to his tally against the Black Cats.
Benjamin Sesko scored his first goal against the Bees and that should give him confidence. He will be relieved to be off the mark and will want to find the net more now. The striker was snapped up from RB Leipzig in the last window.
Manchester United predicted XI to face Sunderland in full: Bayindir; De Ligt, Yoro, Shaw; Amad, Dorgu; Fernandes, Ugarte; Cunha, Mbeumo; Sesko
