Manchester United predicted line-up vs Leicester City: three changes made including big Rashford decision

Manchester United team news, injury update and predicted XI ahead of the game against Leicester.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will be looking to sign off his time as interim boss of Manchester United in grand style when they take on Leicester City in the Premier League this weekend. The former Dutch striker will soon learn if he will be kept on the coaching staff, but all he’ll be focused on now is taking all three points this weekend to help the team transition smoothly to the new manager, Ruben Amorim.

The win against PAOK was the best possible preparation for this weekend's game, as it allows the team to carry momentum into the match. It will also be interesting to see what happens with Amad Diallo, following his brilliant individual performance against PAOK, where he scored twice to help secure the victory. Before that, United were held to a frustrating draw against Chelsea, so they need to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.

They will not want to fall too far behind in the race for a top-four finish. United are heavy favourites and likely to win, so below we take a chance at predicting the line-up that their interim manager will field:

Goalkeeper and Defenders

Andre Onana has been in fine form and is one of the success stories of the now-departed manager Erik ten Hag’s reign. He’s getting better and better over time and will certainly start in goal. Noussair Mazraoui’s versatility has proven to be an asset; it looks like he’s shaken off what was a slow start to life at Old Trafford and is now finding his feet. Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martínez will be the central defensive pairing, with Diogo Dalot playing at right-back.

Midfielders:

Bruno Fernandes continues to be the leader of this team. He was instrumental in midweek and will likely be surrounded by the hardworking pair of Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte. Van Nistelrooy prefers his midfielders to always support the attack, so don't be surprised to see Fernandes push forward into a more advanced role, possibly even as an additional striker at some point in the game.

Forwards

Amad was breathtaking against PAOK and will get his chance to impress in the Premier League. So, too, will Marcus Rashford, who started on the bench in midweek, and Rasmus Højlund, who will lead the line as the team’s main striker.

Predicted lineup:

Onana, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martínez, Dalot, Ugarte, Casemiro, Fernandes, Rashford, Højlund, Amad.
