New Manchester United 2026/27 third kit 'leaked' online as fans slate 'ugly' design

Manchester United’s third kit for the 2026/27 season seems to have leaked online ahead of its official release.

Manchester United’s brand new third kit for the 2026/27 season appears to have been leaked online well in advance of its official release – with images of the upcoming shirt circulating months before it is likely to be launched.

The apparent reveal – which cannot yet be verified – is the result of what appears to be a much broader leak of manufacturer Adidas’ kit plans for next season, with Manchester United’s home shirt already revealed while kits from clubs including Arsenal and Newcastle United have also appeared online.

But while the new home kit appears to be a classical throwback to the 1970s, the third kit seems set to be a very different beast. So what does it look like, and what will the supporters make of it?

What Manchester United’s new 2026/27 third kit looks like – according to leaks

Footy Headlines have produced a render of the new shirt in the social media post above based on the information which emerged from the apparent leaks – and it’s certainly a shirt which strays for the usual paths taken by Manchester United change kits.

Returning to the colour palette seen on the Fluminense-style away shirt used in the 2023/24 season, the kit is primarily white but features green and red trim on the circular collar, sleeves and on the traditional Adidas triple-stripe design across the shoulders.

Furthermore, the chest and flanks of the new kit feature a subtle rose design stitched into the white background, presumably a nod to the red rose of Lancashire, Manchester’s traditional county.

Meanwhile the shirt features a stripped-back alternate club crest which features only the ‘devil’ from the more usual badge, centred beneath the kit manufacturer’s logo and above the main sponsor, all picked out in the same dark red used across the trim.

New Man Utd kits gets negative reaction from fans online

While it’s certainly a more original kit than the home jersey which the same leaks suggest will be released later this year, it’s not proven to be quite as popular with the supporters, many of whom have registered their distaste for the new design on social media.

Among the more printable reactions to the shirt are comments calling the new kit “ugly” and “cluttered,” which many of the criticisms aimed at the three centred logos down the middle of the shirt – one supporter caught the mood of many of his fellow United fans by saying that the design would be “stunning if the logos were placed normally.”

The new home kit did, at least, get a warmer reception from the supporters, but in any case the real priority for most fans will be hoping that the club appoint the right manager after sacking Ruben Amorim – after all, it’s easy to forgive an unpopular kit when the club wearing it is doing a lot of winning.

The release date for Manchester United’s kits for the 2026/27 season has not yet been made public and it remains uncertain whether the club will switch to their new shirts before the end of the Premier League season or wait until the summer to launch them.
