Šeško, Maguire & Mainoo: Latest Manchester United injury news and expected return dates

The latest Manchester United injury news - including updates on Benjamin Šeško, Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo.

Manchester United earned a point at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in dramatic circumstances this weekend – but it was a point which might have come at a considerable cost, with Benjamin Šeško among four players who now carry fresh injury concerns into the international break.

Šeško was forced from the field with an injury in the second half, as were both Harry Maguire and Casemiro – while Kobbie Mainoo missed out on the matchday squad due to a fitness problem of his own. With Lisandro Martínez also still working his way back from a serious injury, Ruben Amorim could be without several important players when Premier League football returns in a fortnight’s time.

We’ve got all of the latest Manchester United injury news and updates heading into the November international break below, along with the stricken players’ expected return dates when available.

How long will Benjamin Šeško be out with injury?

Perhaps the biggest worry in the wake of Saturday’s 2-2 draw is the health of summer signing Šeško, whose injury was bad enough that he was forced to withdraw from the match after United had used all five substitutions, leaving the Red Devils to get through the final 10 minutes or so with just 10 men.

United will assess Šeško urgently and the prognosis has not yet been made public, and nor has there been any announcement regarding whether or not the striker will withdraw from Slovenia’s squad for their final World Cup qualifying matches against Kosovo and Sweden – but Amorim’s comments after the game suggest that there is reason to be worried.

“I'm concerned with an injury, because it is in the knee, and I don't know [how bad it is],” Amorim told the media. “We need Ben to be a better team. We have to check. He has something in his knee. Let's see."

There is less concern over the fitness of Maguire and Casemiro, who both came off in the 72nd minute with apparent knocks. Amorim confirmed after the game that the substitutions were forced, but there is no indication that either player needs imminent testing and both players made social media posts after the match which made no reference to their fitness or future availability. It is believed that both issues are minor and are unlikely to impact their game status after the break.

Will Lisandro Martínez or Kobbie Mainoo be back after the international break?

Midfielder Mainoo did not travel to London for Saturday’s match after sustaining an injury in training. Details of the issue are scarce with neither the club nor manager providing a detailed update, but BBC Sport have reported that the problem is “minor,” suggesting that Mainoo is likely to be back in the squad when United take on Everton on 24 November.

There is also some optimism that centre-back Martínez could be back in the side after the international break, too. The Argentine has been out since February with a cruciate ligament injury but is now back in training as he works towards a comeback.

Amorim has warned that the club will take things “slowly” to protect Martínez but also that he was close enough to have wanted to play in United’s last two league games. There is a good chance that he plays some part in the game against Everton – although it is highly unlikely that he is given a full 90 minutes.
