The top class signings Man United could still make this summer - including Aston Villa and Valencia gems
Manchester United have been in the headlines throughout the summer transfer window
Manchester United have been at the forefront of this summer transfer window thus far and that looks set to continue as we approach the final few weeks of the window.

After a tumultuous season which ended with the Red Devils unable to win a trophy and deep in the bottom half of the Premier League, all eyes were on Ruben Amorim to see how he would react in the transfer market.
There have been promising signs so far but the work is not yet done. Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have arrived on big-money moves to bolster United’s attacking options and goal-scoring output, while Marcus Rashford has departed on loan for Barcelona and is completely off the wage bill for the first time. Others such as Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho are expected to follow him out of the door - but who could Amorim’s side still bring in before the window closes on 1 September?
A new striker remains the priority for Man United
Man United have been heavily linked with bringing in a new striker ever since the Mbeumo deal finally got over the line. Two prime targets have emerged in recent days, in the shape of Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins and RB Leipzig and Slovenia front-man Benjamin Sesko.
Nicolas Jackson and out-of-favour Juventus man Dusan Vlahovic have also been linked in recent weeks, but reports suggest that the Red Devils are focused on signing one of Watkins or Sesko. The Old Trafford outfit may face stern competition from Newcastle United for Sesko and latest reports by The Mirror state that Watkins is United’s No.1 striker target.
Aston Villa are reported to be demanding £60 million for Watkins, who is their all-time Premier League top goalscorer after 75 goals in 184 league appearances for the club. This would no doubt be a top signing for United if they can get it over the line, as Watkins is a proven marksman who will need no time to adapt to the league. In addition, a move for Watkins would weaken a direct rival as the Red Devils look to return to European contention.
Midfielder and goalkeeper could also be brought in by Amorim
Completing a trio of key positions to strengthen before the end of the window, Amorim is reportedly targeting a new midfielder and a goalkeeper to elevate his squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra is a top target for the 20-time league champions amidst reports of a €25m (£21.5m) bid having been lodged for the 22-year-old. Capable of operating across a variety of midfield positions, Guerra would be a strong addition for the Red Devils and could become a top midfielder at Old Trafford.
In the goalkeeping department, Emiliano Martinez and Gianluigi Donnarumma have been linked but reports suggest that Royal Antwerp shot-stopper Senne Lammens could be making a switch to Manchester. The 23-year-old is viewed as one of the top young goalkeepers in Europe and would challenge Andre Onana for a starting spot should he arrive in a deal which could be worth up to £17m. While he may not be as big a name as Martinez or Donnarumma at present, the Belgian could offer an upgrade on current second-choice Altay Bayindir and then go on to become United’s No.1 for years to come.
