Newcastle United sign Brentford and Crystal Palace stars as AI predicts monster £170m summer transfer window

It’s looking set to be a big summer for Newcastle United, and AI has predicted who they will bring in.

It could be a huge summer ahead for Newcastle United, as the Carabao Cup winners will look to strengthen their squad to compete again on all fronts next campaign.

The Toon still remain on course for a Champions League finish despite Sunday’s defeat to Arsenal, which left Eddie Howe’s side in third place on goal difference ahead of the final day.

Victory against 13th-placed Everton would give Newcastle a strong chance of finishing within the top five and returning to a place amongst Europe’s elite, though two Manchester City victories and a Chelsea thumping of fellow challengers Nottingham Forest at the City Ground could yet change that. All is to play for in one of the tightest European races in recent memory, with just a single point separating Newcastle and Forest in third and seventh respectively.

Should Howe’s men achieve their goal on the final day and secure Champions League qualification for the second time in three seasons, it could give the club major spending power in the summer transfer window ahead.

AI predicts huge £170m spending spree

We asked AI what the Toon Army’s summer transfer window could look like, and there were some very interesting predictions across all areas of the pitch. Firstly, and arguably most notably for Newcastle fans, there was no sign of Alexander Isak in the outgoings. It seems that the AI didn’t even consider that the club could let him go over the summer, which would be a huge boost as they look to hold onto their £150m prized asset. With such an asking price they are hoping to scare off potential suitors, and AI believes that the Swede will stay put.

Newcastle could go in for a new centre-back this summer, and a top target could be Crystal Palace and England star Marc Guéhi. The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the North East in the past, and AI predicts that the Toon will get their man in a £50m signing. It may even be a stunning double swoop as it also predicts a £60m move for Ebere Eze, though the likelihood of this going through is seen as lower.

Newcastle may go in for a dynamic wide player this summer and if a move for Eze falls through, AI sees a more realistic alternative as Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo. A predicted £40m price may be a little optimistic though, especially with reports that Manchester United have made a £54m offer for the Cameroon international.

The Toon will be hoping to strengthen across the pitch in preparation for next season’s European campaign, and one star who has been linked with a move is Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap. The 22-year-old will be hot property this summer and has a reported £30m relegation release clause, which AI predicts Newcastle will trigger.

It also predicts the Toon will sign highly-rated James Trafford from Burnley after his heroic promotion campaign with the Clarets, in addition to picking up Kyle Walker-Peters for free from Southampton.

The most shocking move of the lot? AI predicts that Newcastle will sign Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven in a £30m transfer. Given that is less than Spurs paid for him themselves in 2023, the low price makes this transfer all the more laughable. It would signal major problems at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if such a move was to go through for one of their key players.

Clear-out predicted as several high-profile stars depart

It could be an equally busy summer for the Magpies as they seek to offload players to make room for new faces, and AI predicts up to 10 departures over the summer.

Sean Longstaff has been linked with the likes of Leeds United and Everton, with a reported £12m wanted for the Geordie midfielder, which would provide pure profit for the club. Newcastle could also part ways with Callum Wilson, with his contract due to expire this summer after five years at St. James’ Park. Other predicted departures include Martin Dubravka, Isaac Hayden, Matt Targett, Kieran Trippier and Emil Krafth.

But the AI clearly needs to keep up with the latest headlines, as it also predicted the departures of Miguel Almirón, Matt Ritchie, Paul Dummett and Ryan Fraser, all of whom have already left the club over the past year.
