Newcastle United sign £69m gem and ex-Arsenal midfielder in bold summer transfer window prediction
Newcastle United are gearing up for another busy summer transfer window
It’s been a deeply frustrating season for Newcastle United. After a summer dominated by the relentless Alexander Isak transfer saga, the Magpies were forced into some last minute panic buying, and winning just one of their opening five matches of the Premier League season.

While things stabilised to a degree, Eddie Howe’s side have been unable to win more than three league games in a row all season, and are now sitting 14th in the table with just six matches left to play. Having lost both home and away to arch rivals Sunderland as well, the Toon Army will be counting down the days until the season ends and the squad can regroup.
Ahead of what looks set to be a hectic summer for the Magpies, with both new signings and plenty of outgoings expected, we loaded up the latest edition of Football Manger and got the simulation to predict exactly who Newcastle will sign and sell ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Newcastle United summer transfer window predicted: transfers in
Gregor Kobel - £53m from Borussia Dortmund: The transfer window opened and Newcastle wasted no time getting down to business, blowing some big bucks on the Swiss goalkeeper. He came straight in as the Magpies’ new number one, having built up bags of experience with over 200 appearances for Bundesliga giants Dortmund.
Ousmane Diomande - £69m from Sporting CP: A rather interesting one here, given that the Magpies were linked with the talented centre-back once again earlier this week. He joined Newcastle for another whopping fee, which is surely more than he’ll actually go for if he finally leaves the Portuguese capital for a Premier League move this summer.
Lucas Torreira - £68m from Galatasaray: Newcastle’s relentless approach to the window showed no sign of letting up, as the chequebook came out once again to capture the former Arsenal midfielder. He’d be a dream fit for Howe’s midfield, with his formidable stamina and steadfast determination to win the ball back for his side.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka on loan from West Ham: As Kieran Trippier bid farewell to Tyneside after four and a half seasons at St. James’ Park, the Magpies reined in the big-spending and got themselves in a decent loan option instead. While the DR Congo international’s career hasn’t flourished as once hoped, he’ll still be an excellent backup for the Newcastle squad.
Fotis Ioannidis - £46m from Sporting CP: Another deadline day, another last minute striker deal for Newcastle. With the clock ticking, the Magpies swooped for the 26-year-old Greece international. His rather underwhelming six goals in 22 appearances for Sporting make this a massive gamble, to say the least.
Newcastle United summer transfer window predicted: transfers out
Sandro Tonali - £80m to Manchester United: Newcastle feared losing Tonali over the summer, but the reality was even harder to swallow when he joined a divisional rival in the Red Devils. The Magpies made a healthy profit on his sale, at least, which will be some crumb of comfort for those in charge of crunching the numbers.
Lewis Miley - £40m to Paris Saint-Germain: Another brutal exit here, as the homegrown talent was shipped off to Ligue 1 as Newcastle grappled to stay in line with the Premier League’s financial restrictions. Being a homegrown player, his sale counted as pure profit, but losing a player who’s come through the academy is always a bit of a sickener.
Nick Pope - £7.5m to West Ham United: The ex-Burnley stopper signed a contract extension back in October, but following Kobel’s arrival he decided to bring his time at St. James’ Park to a close and take on a new challenge at the London Stadium. He left Newcastle having made over 100 Premier League appearances across four seasons.
Jacob Murphy - £14m to AZ Alkmaar: With his contract set to expire the following summer, Newcastle made the difficult decision to cash in on a highly dependable rotation option. He became somewhat of a Fantasy Premier League cult hero last season, racking up the points after scoring nine goals and providing 12 assists over the course of the campaign.
