The amazing £52m signing that will be Newcastle's biggest buy of the summer - according to new prediction

Newcastle United could look to break the bank for a new signing this summer transfer window.

Newcastle United have been one of the Premier League’s biggest underperformers so far this season and might look to the transfer market in the summer to turn things around in Tyneside.

Eddie Howe’s side have struggled on their travels and have even seen their imperious home form begin to go downhill this term, with an increasingly difficult task ahead to secure a European spot for next term. Their spending last summer largely did not go to plan, as big-money arrivals such as Anthony Elanga and Nick Woltemade have struggled to live up to their price tags, while Yoane Wissa has spent several months out injured since his arrival while struggling to find the net in the black and white when he is available.

We asked X’s Grok AI who Newcastle’s biggest signing next summer might be, as the Magpies look to the transfer market once again to inspire a return to the upper reaches of the Premier League.

Newcastle’s biggest signing of 2026 - as predicted by AI

Newcastle are already looking to sign a replacement for club record signing Woltemade according to recent reports and AI believes they will get their man – in the shape of Sporting CP striker Luis Suarez.

Not to be confused with the former Liverpool and Barcelona hitman of the same name, the 28-year-old has shone in Portugal this term and is one of the leading goalscorers in Europe, less than a year on from signing for a fee of €25m (£21.7m) from Almeria.

The eight-cap Colombia international is reaching new levels this term with 30 goals in 38 matches in all competitions, including four in the Champions League as Sporting qualified in the top eight for the last 16.

Grok state that Suarez’s mix of pace, finishing and high work-rate would suit Howe’s intense pressing system at St. James’ Park, while the Colombian would be a marquee addition to add ‘genuine goal threat’ amidst inconsistencies in attack this season. According to reports by GiveMeSport, Newcastle are ‘eyeing’ a move for Suarez but might need to pay as much as €60m (£52m) for the player with Sporting unlikely to budge on their valuation.

Could Luis Suarez be the man to turn things around at Newcastle?

The Premier League knows all about signing former Sporting CP strikers, most notably Viktor Gyokeres, who has had an inconsistent time of it in England since signing for Arsenal in a £64m deal last summer. He has begun to come good in recent weeks, though, bagging 10 goals in the Premier League and 15 in all competitions with the run-in yet to come.

Suarez might appear another risky and rather untested signing of the mould of both Gyokeres and Woltemade – at least where the Premier League is concerned – but according to AI, he could be just the man Newcastle need to turn things around. He has certainly proven that he knows where the back of the net is and would hope to hit the ground running in England. If his strong form in Portugal and the Champions League continue for the remainder of the season, he might be primed for a huge move to the North East.
