The new jersey, designed by Umbro for the first time since 2013 after they took over the kit manufacturer’s license from Castore, is available to buy in the Rangers official club store online now, but many fans are up in arms about the steepling price tag placed on the new-look kit.

Rangers new home kit for the 2025/26 season revealed

The official launch confirms previous unofficial leaks concerning the shirt’s design, which is a plan traditional blue with no underlying patterning with a white collar and sleeve ends, both supported with slight flashes of red.

The kit’s chunky fold-down collar gives it a classic look and is only the third time this century that the Gers have had a collar in that style on their home shirt. The shorts are plain white with tiny flashes of blue and red near the base, while the socks are black with a red cuff and the Rangers logo picked out in white.

Given the accuracy of prior leaks, it lends credence to similar unofficial reveals of the new away kit, which is expected to be white with thick red and blue bands running square across the shoulders. The away and third kits have not yet been officially revealed.

Between the collar and the simple, minimalist design, plenty of fans have given the new look rave reviews, with responses to the reveal include verdicts that it’s “a beauty”, “very smart” and “very nice”, with few fans seemingly disappointed in the design itself. The price tag, however, has drawn severe criticism, with a number of supporters complaining about a starting price of £80 for the adult edition of the jersey, while the ‘pro’ version retails at £105.

Fans criticise pricing as goalkeeper shirt goes on sale

As much as supporters have praised the look of the new kit, the steep price tag has caused something of an uproar, with some fans describing it as a “disgraceful”.

Beyond the base price, some fans were frustrated that the club badge and manufacturer’s logo are printed on rather than embroidered. The price of £65 for a children’s jersey was also a source of irritation for some supporters.

Alongside the home shirt, the first-choice goalkeeper kit was also unveiled – a bright yellow number with a striped pattern of black, yellow and gold on the sleeves and shoulders with matching yellow and grey socks. The goalkeeper’s shorts are not yet on the club website and there is no ‘pro’ version for sale, but the prices for adult’s and children’s shirts are the same as for the home kit.

This is not only be the first kit designed by Umbro in a decade but also the last to be released under the current owners, with American investment group 49ers Enterprises set to complete a takeover of the Ibrox club and bring the team into a multi-club ownership group alongside Leeds United.

Rangers are likely to head into the new season with a new kit, new owners and a new manager, with former head coach Steven Gerrard among the names linked with the role likely to be vacated by caretaker boss Barry Ferguson this summer.
