Tottenham plot mega £101m Premier League double raid as Chelsea reignite striker hunt

All of the latest Premier League transfer news, including Chelsea, Spurs, and Aston Villa

We begin Friday’s Premier League transfer rumour roundup with an update from Stamford Bridge. According to L’Equipe, Chelsea have reignited their interest in Lens striker Elye Wahi, but are yet to make a formal offer for the 21-year-old.

As per a report from the French outlet, the Blues have ‘come forward again in recent days’ to enquire about the availability of the promising forward, having previously been linked with him in past transfer windows. It is understood that Wahi is a potential candidate to leave Lens this summer, although it is unclear whether the Ligue 1 side will actually pull the trigger on his sale.

The 3AM Verdict: Wahi is a player who boasts boundless potential, but whether he is actually the kind of player that Chelsea should be looking to sign right now is a matter of some debate. Aside from the fact that he only registered 12 goals in 37 outings across all competitions last season, the Frenchman has also been involved in more than his fair share of off-field controversy. Perhaps this is one deal to avoid.

Spurs eye double deal

Elsewhere, Tottenham are said to be eyeing a double deal for Wolves star Pedro Neto and Crystal Palace talisman Eberechi Eze. The pair have both been linked with big money exits this summer, and are attracting plenty of attention from a host of Premier League clubs. According to Caught Offside, Spurs are still very much among those interested in signing both players.

A combined swoop will not be come cheap, however, with claims that Neto and Eze together would cost somewhere in the region of £101 million. Should Tottenham fail in their pursuit, the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea are all ‘waiting in the wings and following developments’, though as yet, none have made any formal approach for either player.

The 3AM Verdict: This would be a huge statement of intent from Spurs, and exactly the kind of business they should be looking to wrap up if they are serious about establishing themselves as title contenders. Both Neto and Eze would bring a huge measure of quality to their frontline, and should a double deal be concluded, Ange Postecoglou’s side would be the envy of the Premier League.

Villa swoop for Onana

And finally, John Percy of The Telegraph reports that Aston Villa are set to complete a club record £50 million transfer for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana in the coming days. Writing on social media, the reporter suggested that all financial terms have now been agreed between two clubs, and that Onana himself will undergo a medical this weekend upon his return from a short break following his involvement at Euro 2024 with Belgium.

The Villans have been in the market for a new midfielder following the sale of Douglas Luiz to Juventus, and look to have found a replacement in remarkably short order.

The 3AM Verdict: Onana has been a target for several top Premier League sides for some time now, and his arrival at Villa Park marks a real statement of intent from Unai Emery’s side. This has the feel of a transfer that could take both player and club to the next level.
