Wolves will ‘definitely’ sell star player on one condition as Liverpool 'good relationship' claim made

A closer look at some of the latest Premier League transfer rumours.

The winter transfer window has closed for business, which means just one thing... rumours are already doing the rounds ahead of the summer.

There’s a lot to challenge for this season, as the Premier League continues to churn out exciting results. The unexpected twists and turns have kept most of the table fairly open and there’s still the unpredictable outcome of the top four.

As we wait to find out the final order of this thrilling season, let’s take a look at some of the latest transfer rumours.

Wolves will ‘definitely’ sell star player on one condition

Wolves are currently teetering above the relegation zone, with two points between them and closest bottom three rivals Leicester City. Between now and the end of the season, anything could happen between the four currently tussling at the foot of the table for their survival.

The Old Gold struck their first Premier League win of 2025 during their latest outing against Aston Villa. Other results including a 2-2 draw against Tottenham and their 2-0 win over Manchester United could inspire a run to keep them above water at the end of the season.

A lot is riding on their Premier League status, particularly the future of top goalscorer Matheus Cunha. With 11 goals in the league so far, the Brazilian has been attracting a lot of attention lately. Wolves made a statement when they pinned Cunha down to a new contract earlier this month, but if they face relegation, they may have their hands tied.

According to Football Insider, the 25-year-old ‘will definitely be sold’ if Wolves drop down to the Championship at the end of the season.

The 3AM Verdict: Facing relegation is no easy feat and the fallout following the result only adds to the club’s frustrations. Top earning and performing players are often quickly out the door as they prefer competing in the top flight, but even for those willing to stay, they’re often sold on as well in order to balance the books. Losing the influence of Cunha will be a tough pill to swallow for Wolves if it does come to that, but they will not be short of suitors and could demand a handsome fee before they part ways.

Fabrizio Romano makes ‘very good’ Liverpool relationship claim

The focus on Liverpool over the winter was heavily on the trio approaching the end of their contracts, and since the window has closed, nothing much has changed. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are still without new deals but Fabrizio Romano has given a potential little teaser on the latter.

“It’s true that the agents of Virgil van Dijk were sitting next to the director of football at Liverpool, Richard Hughes, for the game against Tottenham,” the transfer expert said on his YouTube channel on Friday. “So, there is still a very good conversation, a very good relationship, between Liverpool and the agents of Van Dijk.”

Little movement has been seen from the outside looking in when it comes to these players’ futures. Right now, fans can only continue to speculate and wait for something official from the club.

The 3AM Verdict: While Romano’s comment hardly suggests anything concrete, any sign is a good one right now for Liverpool fans. Losing Van Dijk will be a huge blow to the club, especially if the other two also leave at the end of the season. Right now, focus is firmly on keeping their lead at the top of the Premier League table but time is running out to tie down some of the most influential players the club has ever seen.
