Prince Harry is in the headlines again following the publishing of his memoir ‘Spare’, which describes how he felt overshadowed by his brother William and others during his time with the royal family.
And that got us thinking about the footballers past and present who have been overlooked for one reason or another, whether they were simply underrated, or whether they were victim to being overshadowed by more popular teammates. We have included current and former players, including Premier League stars and some of the standouts from the continent.
Join us below as we take a look at 10 overlooked stars in no particular order:

5. Sergio Busquets
Busquets is a legend at Barcelona, but is he really one of the first names that comes to mind when you think of Barca’s dominance over those golden years? Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez, Luis Suarez. There are so many reasons why Busquets is overlooked, but he was absolutely pivotal to that golden generation’s success. | Getty Images

6. Nicky Butt
Butt was often overlooked amid the natural flare of David Beckham and co, but he was the engine room for United over many years, and he has to go down as one of the club’s most industrious players. | Getty Images

7. Thomas Muller
Muller has been exceptional during a superb career so far, but he has often been overshadowed by Robert Lewandowski. He will go down as a Bayern Munich legend and a world champion, but the talent of others during his time may mean he is not quite remembered as well as he should be when he does hang up his boots. | Getty Images

8. Ronald Koeman
Koeman is not always listed as one of Barcelona’s all-time best players, but he should be. The versatile defender was much more than his rediculously good free-kicks, he was a superb defender, and he isn’t remembered quite as well as he should be. | AFP via Getty Images
