Arsenal could sign their next Alexis Sanchez with stunning £58m summer swoop
Arsenal can sign some new players this summer when the next window opens for business
Arsenal have the chance to acquire some new talent later this year. They have fallen short in the title race once again this season, this time to Arne Slot’s Liverpool. However, it is not all doom and gloom and they can still take a lot of positives from this campaign.

Mikel Arteta’s side remain in the Champions League after impressively seeing off holders Real Madrid in the last round over two legs. The Gunners will now be in confident mood and they will fancy their chances of reaching the final of the competition. Next up is a clash against PSG in the semi-finals, which will be a tough assignment in itself.
Arsenal eye Nico Williams deal
According to GiveMeSport, Athletic Bilbao attacker Nico Williams has emerged as a ‘key target’ for Arsenal this summer and they are said to be mulling over a potential swoop. The report suggests they haven’t completely made up their mind on whether to make an official bid yet and they are weighing things up. They have the next few months to consider their options.
As per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the player has a valuation of around £58m. He remains under contract at Bilbao until June 2027 which means he still has two years left to run. In addition, his current club are under no pressure to sell him just yet and can afford to wait for the right price to come in for his services if they are to cash in.
Williams, 22, has been a key player for the La Liga outfit over recent years. He joined them in 2013 and has since risen up through their academy ranks. The Pamplona-born man was a regular for them at various different youth levels.
He then broke into their first-team in 2021 and hasn’t looked back since. The Spain international, who has 26 caps under his belt, helped his country win Euro 2024 and also won the Copa Del Rey with Bilbao that year. He has scored 31 goals in 164 games to date, five of which have come in the league in this campaign.
Where would Nico Williams fit in at Arsenal?
Alexis Sanchez was a hit during his time at the Emirates Stadium and was a player who could get fans off their seats. If Arsenal brought in Williams, he could have a very similar effect. His pace and power can be blistering and he would give them another dimension in attack.
It is no secret that the Gunners need to bolster their forwards ranks. They are short of bodies up top and that has hurt them over recent times. Injuries to the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz has seen them have to deploy Mikel Merino as a makeshift striker.
Williams would be ideal for the London outfit as he is a still young, has potential to develop and has proved himself in Spain over recent years. He could add more competition and depth to Arteta’s squad. They need that next term, especially if they are going for both domestic glory and success in Europe.
Arsenal have been very patient with their recruitment over the past few window. They don’t tend to splash the cash too much if they don’t feel the need. Their hierarchy must fork out some money this year though to strengthen their title hopes.
