Cash, Goretzka & Torres: Latest Aston Villa injury news and return dates ahead of Brentford clash
The latest Aston Villa injury news and expected return dates ahead of their Premier League match against Brentford.
Aston Villa will hope to maintain their momentum from before the extended international break when they return to Premier League action with a game against Brentford this weekend – but fresh injury issues could make it more difficult to keep their form going.

Matty Cash became the latest addition to a growing list of injured players when he limped off during Poland’s recent Nations League game against Bosnia & Herzegovina and the right-back is now one of as many as eight first-team players who are out or doubts for the Saturday’s match at Villa Park.
With kick-off fast approaching, we’ve collected all of the latest Aston Villa injury updates below and provided the stricken players’ expected return dates when available.
How long will Matty Cash be out for?

Aston Villa full-back Matty Cash limped from the field just after the hour mark during Poland’s 1-0 defeat in Zenica on Monday evening, and was replaced after receiving treatment.
The good news is that Cash was able to walk unaided from the pitch, which implies that the injury isn’t likely to be especially severe, but the exact nature of the issue has yet to be determined and the 29-year-old is expected to be subject to tests when he return to Birmingham on Tuesday.
As it stands, there are no indications as to how much time Cash might miss and his status for Saturday’s game against Brentford is unclear. Unai Emery is expected to provide a further update later in the week once a full diagnosis has been made.
As it stands, Cash appears to have been the only victim of the international break pending the final fixtures of the current tranche of Nations League matches. Johan Manzambi also played his first full 90 minutes of the season for Switzerland against Slovenia and Saturday.
Will Goretzka start against Brentford?

Among Aston Villa’s other injured players, several could return to action against Brentford – with summer signing Leon Goretzka (knee), centre-half Pau Torres (hamstring) and youngsters Brian Madjo (ankle) and Alysson (undisclosed) all in line to make the match day squad.
Aston Villa reporter John Townley reported that Goretzka, Torres and Madjo were spotted in full training during a training camp in Spain which took place during the opening stages of the international break, while Alysson came off the bench during a training game against Sevilla. The indications are that the trio should all be available for the weekend barring undisclosed setbacks.
One player who remains a doubt is reserve goalkeeper Marco Bizot, who missed the 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur with a back injury. His status remains unknown as the Brentford match inches closer.
Two players have been definitively ruled out of the coming fixture against Brentford: Left-back Ian Maatsen is expected to be sidelined under late November after sustaining a serious ankle injury last month, while midfielder Amadou Onana will miss most (and perhaps all) of the 2026/27 season due to a ruptured ACL sustained during the World Cup.
