Liverpool predicted lineup vs Wolves: two key changes made as £45m attacker starts
The latest Liverpool team news, injury update and predicted XI ahead of their Premier League clash with Wolves
So far in Arne Slot’s first season in charge, Liverpool have dropped points on just one occasion. After a frustrating outing against Nottingham Forest, the Reds have since bounced back in convincing fashion. In their three fixtures in all competitions since the hiccup at Anfield, Liverpool have scored 11 goals and their attack is causing quite the headache for their manager.

Mohamed Salah and Luis Díaz are in superb form, with 14 goal contributions between them across all competitions so far this season. Salah has notched four goals and four assists in seven games, while Díaz is on five goals and one assist in six. Another big positive is that goals are coming from other areas of the pitch as well.
In their 3-1 win over AC Milan in the Champions League, Ibrahima Konaté and Virgil van Dijk both popped up with towering headers from set pieces. Dominik Szoboszlai also got on the scoresheet to round off the evening, and Slot admitted he wants to see more goals come from the Hungarian as the season progresses.
One burning question that remains though, is who will be Slot’s main man up front? Diogo Jota started the first four of Liverpool’s Premier League fixtures but did not make it off the bench against Bournemouth as Darwin Núñez was given the nod instead.
The Uruguayan, who has had limited time on the pitch so far this campaign, repaid Slot’s faith with a superb goal against the Cherries. He also played the full 90 minutes against West Ham in the Carabao Cup and bagged himself an assist.
Then there’s Cody Gakpo, who has also been a fringe player in the Premier League this season but was in superb form against West Ham with two goals in Liverpool’s 5-1 win.
Liverpool team news
Jota started in a deeper role against West Ham and scored two goals, which only further adds to Slot’s dilemma. With all three forwards fighting for their space, it’s going to be a tough decision each week for the manager but there are certainly worse problems than having to pick from three top goal-scorers.
All three started against West Ham but Jota was brought off just before the hour mark. With a bit more rest and after scoring a brace last time out, the Portuguese star could return to the Premier League starting lineup this weekend to face his former side. The 27-year-old was a key part of Wolves’ set-up before £45 million move to Liverpool.
On the injury front, Slot has confirmed that Alisson ‘should be available’ to return this weekend, having missed the last two fixtures due to a minor muscle issue. However, Harvey Elliott remains out of action with a fractured foot.
Liverpool predicted lineup
Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konaté, Van Dijk, Robertson, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Salah, Szoboszlai, Díaz, Jota.
