The bold swap deal that Liverpool and Newcastle United should strike that would raise eyebrows
Liverpool and Newcastle United have the chance to bolster their ranks in the summer
Liverpool look well on their way to securing the Premier League this season. Arne Slot was picked as their replacement for Jurgen Klopp last summer after catching the eye at Feyenoord.

He arrived at Anfield with big shoes to fill following Klopp’s exit. The Dutchman has adapted with ease into life in England though and barring an almighty collapse, the Reds will win the title in this campaign ahead of rivals like Arsenal and Manchester City.
The Merseyside outfit can’t stand still though and need to improve their ranks this summer. After all, the likes of Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk aren’t getting any younger and they could do with bringing in some fresh blood in the next transfer window.
Liverpool should secure swap deal for Newcastle United ace
Alexander Isak is one of the most prolific strikers in the world and Newcastle United will face a battle to retain his services down the line. He would be ideal for Liverpool and they should go all out to try and get him later this year.
Isak, 25, is worth breaking the bank for. The Sweden international has been on fire this term and has scored 21 goals in 30 matches in all competitions and is too hot for defenders to handle.
Landing the ex-Real Sociedad would be a huge statement of intent by Slot’s side and would show that they mean business as they look to keep winning trophies. His arrival would also boost their chances of success in the Champions League and getting closer to challenging with Real Madrid.
Isak has recently had this to say on his future: "Playing football at this level has always been a dream and probably the main dream that I've had," he said. "Playing in the Premier League for a club like Newcastle with a fan base like they have here is extra special."
Who should Liverpool offer as a swap deal?
As well as a big money transfer fee, Liverpool should try and tempt Newcastle into cashing in with a player as well. Joe Gomez is someone who would benefit from a change of scene in the near future and would fit the bill for the Toon Army.
If he he moved to the North East, he would give Eddie Howe more competition and depth in defence. The former Charlton Athletic man has played at the top level for a while now and has also represented England in the past.
Newcastle could give him the regular football he needs at this stage of his career and a chance to show what he can do. Gomez currently provides Liverpool with more competition and depth at the back but they can’t offer him minutes every single week anymore which means cutting ties with him would free up space and funds in their ranks to pave the way for reinforcements further up the pitch.
He has made 241 appearances in all competitions for the Reds to date and is under contract until June 2027.
