Intriguing £78m Man United transfer update emerges as high-profile Tottenham exit all but confirmed

The latest Premier League transfer news and gossip including Man United, Tottenham, Liverpool and West Ham

A mere fifty-two days stand between us and the summer transfer window. Behind the scenes, Premier League sporting directors are pacing their offices furtively, crunching numbers and going over scout reports to determine exactly who they’ll be whipping out their chequebooks to sign ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Tottenham may experience a mass exodus regardless of whether they get relegated, Manchester United are set for a major midfield rebuild, and Liverpool have one of the trickiest transfer conundrums they’ve faced in years - how exactly to adequately replace the legendary Mohamed Salah.

It’s clear that clubs are, as usual, doing their groundwork early, which means there are plenty of transfer stories doing the rounds already as the season draws to its dramatic close. Here are the latest murmurings from the rumour mill involving Premier League clubs.

Jarrod Bowen fully focused on relegation battle

We’re kicking things off at the London Stadium, where West Ham United remain embroiled in a gripping relegation battle. Along with Nottingham Forest, Tottenham and Leeds United, the club are scrapping it out to avoid finishing in 17th place - an outcome that would see them play Championship football next season.

Reassuringly for Hammers fans, Football Insider claim that star man Jarrod Bowen has no “immediate plans” to leave and that he’s fully focused on the end of the season, despite apparent interest from both Liverpool and Chelsea. Interestingly, it’s suggested that only relegation would see him leave, as he’s settled in the area he lives and has close ties to the club.

The 3AM Verdict: Would you want to tell Danny Dyer, your father-in-law, that you’re skipping off to west London to join Chelsea? Just imagine how awkward the future Sunday roast dinners would be. In all seriousness though, this is great news for West Ham if true, and even more motivation for them to stay up.

Liverpool are ready to spend big to replace Salah this summer, and Chelsea appear to be physically incapable of going through a transfer window without buying at least three new wingers, so there will be plenty of interest in Bowen regardless of whether West Ham stay up. If he puts club loyalty over bigger wages and European football, then fair play to him.

Inter ‘win race’ to sign Tottenham goalkeeper

We’ve hopped on the Overground from Stratford to Tottenham Hale, where word has reached us of an imminent exit at Spurs. Team Talk claim that Serie A giants Inter have “won the race” to sign Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who looks set to leave the club this summer, three seasons on from when he arrived back in 2023.

Inter are said to have now agreed terms with the shot-stopper, having been working for months to get the deal in place ahead of the summer. It’s said that Juventus are also interested, but the 29-year-old’s heart is set on a move to Inter, who currently sit ten points clear at the top of Serie A.

Interestingly, the report adds that if Spurs go down, current number two Antonin Kinsky is expected to be retained and given the starting spot. If they stay up, a high-profile new arrival could be targeting in the form of either Manchester City’s James Trafford or Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen.

The 3AM Verdict: In a divisional as relentlessly physical as the Premier League, a goalkeeper with a wiry frame like Vicario was always going to struggle, and he’s continually let them down when defending set-pieces.

A clean break is the best option for both parties, with the goalkeeper able to play Champions League football with Inter next season, and Spurs getting the opportunity to make a significant upgrade between the sticks - if they stay up.

£78m bid could tempt Real Madrid into selling Man United target

Last up, it’s over to Manchester, where Man United are mulling over exactly who they’ll sign to rejuvenate their midfield this summer, with Casemiro set to bid farewell to Old Trafford after four seasons. Caught Offside have provided an update on the future of Real Madrid superstar Aurelien Tchouameni, which may be of interest to the Red Devils, and indeed Liverpool.

They say that while he’s most likely to remain with Los Blancos and sign a new deal, the change of head coach could potentially lead to his sale, as they look to reshape the side. The report’s “sources” claim that a bid in the region of £78m could be enough to see the offer accepted, however, it’s made clear that the most likely scenario is that the player stays.

The 3AM Verdict: Tchouameni would be an unbelievable signing for United, and be a real statement of their intent to get back to their former glories. Clearly, it would take a very specific set of circumstances for a sale to be approved, but with Jose Mourinho heavily linked with the Real Madrid job, a high profile player exit wouldn’t be unheard of under the famously fiery coach.
