Tottenham 'monitor' lethal goalscoring striker as Arsenal eye £42m-rated Barcelona hidden gem
Premier League transfer news latest with updates on Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and more
The weekend portion of the 2026/27 Premier League Gameweek 7 did not disappoint, with goals, drama and red cards galore. Chelsea got things under way with a 2-0 away win at Everton, before the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Aston Villa also picked up victories on Saturday.

Sunday’s action saw Brighton thump rivals Crystal Palace 5-0, Bournemouth won what could be a vital three points over fellow strugglers Sunderland, Leeds United drew 1-1 with Man United, and Arsenal kept their title hopes alive with a narrow 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest. Spurs will round the gameweek off this evening, when they host Coventry City.
Today’s rumours round-up begins at Bournemouth, who are doing all in their power to hang on to talismanic midfielder Alex Scott until the end of the season. Following reports suggesting Scott could be allowed to go in January, Football Insider now claim that the Cherries are set to jack up their asking price to over £100m to ward off the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool.
The 23-year-old’s new status as an England international is said to be being used as justification for the price increase, along with the fear that Bournemouth could be in a relegation battle where they’ll need to keep their best players to aid their chances of survival. Scott’s current deal runs until 2028, however, which does put them under pressure to sell.
The 3AM Verdict: With Scott looking highly unlikely to sign a new deal, his value will only continue to depreciate until his contract runs out. The ex-Bristol City star looks to be a real pro, so he’s unlikely to throw his toys out the pram if he doesn’t get his big move just yet. Bournemouth should stick to their guns and either pull in a huge fee in January, or sell him once safety is assured come the end of the season.
Arsenal ‘closely monitoring’ Barcelona wonderkid

Over at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal will be in good spirits after grinding out their win at the City Ground on Sunday. According to Caught Offside, they’re now scouting Barcelona wonderkid Xavi Espart, who has recently signed a new contract with a hefty £84m release clause. However, it’s suggested that he could be sold for £42m if an offer of that calibre is made.
The 19-year-old Spain U21 international can play on either flank as a full-back, or in a more central midfield role, and is hotly tipped to be a star in the future. It’s suggested that a January move is “extremely unlikely”, but noted that there is also strong interest from both Aston Villa and Tottenham with an eye to a potential future move.
The 3AM Verdict: Espart has got it all - versatility, technical ability, and now experience getting some regular minutes for one of the biggest clubs in world football. In this day and age, £42m doesn’t seem entirely unreasonable, given that the player has well over a decade of football ahead of him. Come next summer, we could have a transfer battle on our hands.
Tottenham scout Bundesliga rising star

Over in north London, Tottenham are gearing up for a must-win clash at home to Frank Lampard’s Coventry City, who thrashed Newcastle United 4-1 in their last outing. Scoring goals has been tough for Spurs this season, despite spending vast amounts of money on new players over the course of the last summer transfer window.
According to Team Talk, Tottenham’s scouts have been busy, and were at Deutsche Bank Park to see Eintracht Frankfurt striker Younes Ebnoutalib score the winner against Cologne last Friday. It’s said that Spurs are closely tracking the German, who has scored five goals in six Bundesliga games this season. Spurs’ interest is believed to be greater than several other sides currently tracking the two-cap Germany international.
The 3AM Verdict: Tottenham have been linked with Ebnoutalib a few times now - no smoke without fire, and all that. There’s no suggestion regarding how much the player would cost - should the asking price be exorbitant, then it would be a serious risk for Spurs, given that the 23-year-old has only played 11 top tier matches in his career so far.
