Man Utd predicted line-up vs. West Ham: three key changes made as £80m man becomes latest injury victim

The latest Manchester United team news and predicted line-up ahead of the Premier League meeting with West Ham.

Manchester United make the journey south to the capital this weekend when Erik ten Hag’s injury-stricken team take on a West Ham United side that are struggling for form under new head coach Julen Lopetegui.

The Red Devils may be missing as many as eight first-team players for Sunday’s Premier League clash at the London Stadium, with Antony the latest potential injury victim – the Brazilian was stretchered off after falling awkwardly during the 1-1 Europa League draw against José Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe on Thursday evening.

Goalkeeper & Defence

Ten Hag is expected to be without four defenders for Sunday’s game, with Leny Yoro (metatarsal) and Harry Maguire (muscular) definitely out – both are expected back in November.

Luke Shaw (calf) and Tyrell Malacia (ACL), meanwhile, are back in training but easing their way back towards match fitness, and while Ten Hag has been cagey with details of their progress a return against West Ham for either would be something of a surprise. Still, summer signing Nouassir Mazraoui was back in action unexpectedly on Thursday and even played as a number ten, so surprises aren’t out of the question.

Midfield

Ten Hag will have to make do without the services of England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo thanks to a muscular injury which should keep him out for at least one more match, and may keep him out of the forthcoming game against Chelsea as well. Mason Mount, who picked up an unspecified injury in the recent 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, is also not expected to play any role this weekend, although details of his progress and recovery are scant.

The good news is that Brazilian veteran Casemiro should be fit to play despite an apparent calf injury picked up late on against Brentford last weekend – he came on a second-half substitute in the midweek match in Istanbul. Promising youngster Toby Collyer is also a doubt after he was withdrawn from the squad to face Brentford late on with an unknown fitness issue. Bruno Fernandes is expected to take his attacking midfield role back from Mazraoui.

Forwards

The only injury concern along the front three is Antony, who was stretchered off in obvious pain after he was floored following an attempted trick against Fenerbahçe. He was later spotted leaving the stadium on crutches, with manager Ten Hag saying that he would be assessed on Friday. It seemed unlikely that he will be in any condition to feature this weekend.

There is a clean bill of health among first-choice players, at least, with Rasmus Højlund likely to be preferred to out-of-form summer signing Joshua Zirkzee up front, with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho the favourites to start on the wings.
