Man Utd tipped to battle Spurs for £43m-rated lethal striker as Leeds could bag bold summer bargain

Premier League transfer latest including updates on Chelsea, Man United and Leeds

The 2026 summer transfer window is in full swing, and Premier League clubs are racing to get deals done before player trading comes to a grinding halt at 11pm on September 1st. There’s also the added pressure of the new Premier League season starting next weekend, meaning clubs will be keen to have the majority of their business done before the big kick-off.

We’re expecting Arsenal and Liverpool in particular to be busy over the next couple of weeks, with both clubs pushing hard to sign a high-profile winger or two. PSG’s Bradley Barcola looks to be a target for both teams, but it remains to be seen whether the Ligue 1 giants lower what’s believed to be a mega asking price for the 23-year-old gem.

Today’s rumours round-up begins with Chelsea, who have set clubs - i.e. Man City - a Friday 5pm deadline to sign Enzo Fernandez for £120m. It remains to be seen whether anyone takes the bait, but if the Blues do manage to sell the wantaway midfielder, it looks like they’ve got their top replacement options sorted.

According to Team Talk, the Blues have already opened talks with both Bournemouth and Crystal Palace, as they take renewed interest in Alex Scott and Adam Wharton respectively. On top of that, the Blues are also believed to be keeping tabs on Arsenal ace Martin Zubimendi, while a move Monaco gem Lamine Camara has also been suggested as a possibility.

The 3AM Verdict: The Blues clearly want to get the Fernandez saga sorted swiftly, rather than seeing it drag on and disrupt their final pre-season preparations. Getting Scott or Wharton would likely be a tough task for Chelsea, with their clubs set to demand big money for their promising talent. A move for Zubimendi or Camara could well prove to be more realistic.

Up next, it’s over to Belgium, where Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi is said to have attracted the attention of three Premier League clubs. Man United, Spurs and Chelsea are all said to have an interest in the 21-year-old, who scored 23 goals in all competitions for his side last year, winning the golden boot as they powered their way to the league title.

Caught Offside say that the player could be sold for around £43m, which they describe as a “bargain” fee. It is suggested that should Joshua Zirkzee leave Man United, Tresoldi could be brought in to replace him as Benjamin Sesko’s understudy. A similar claim is made about Liam Delap at Chelsea, while Spurs’ lack of firepower up top is widely acknowledged.

The 3AM Verdict: After two underwhelming full seasons in the second tier of German football, Tresoldi found his shooting boots in Belgium, enjoying a highly productive first campaign. It’s worth noting that he only scored four goals in 14 outings in Europe however, suggesting he may not quite be up to Premier League standard just yet.

Rounding things off, it’s across to Elland Road, where Leeds are looking to establish themselves as a top tier force once again after avoiding relegation last season. The club have been linked with Marseille winger Igor Paixao of late, and a report from French print media La Provence, via Sport Witness, offers an intriguing update on his future.

They claim that the Ligue 1 side have buckled and reduced the player’s asking price to around £34m - lower than the £40m+ mark the club were initially believed to be holding out for. It’s said that Marseille need to “balance the books” before the window closes, with Paixao’s sale likely to be integral to that happening.

The 3AM Verdict: Leeds are in a great position here - if they don’t wait too long and allow another club to swoop in and hijack the deal, of course. With around £78m already spent this summer, it’s hard to predict how much more the Whites would be willing to splash out, but if they could get Paixao’s fee down to less than £30m, they could bag themselves a bargain.
