Newcastle 2026/27 third kit 'leaked' online – as fans rip into ‘boring’ design

Newcastle’s new third kit for the 2026/27 season appears to have been leaked ahead of its official release.

The brand new Newcastle United third kit for the forthcoming 2026/27 Premier League season appears to have been leaked online ahead of its official release – but Adidas’ new shirt has been met with something of a shrug from the club’s supporters.

Images purporting to show the new jersey were first posted on social media by Kamil Berberler, a kit expert with a strong track record of accurate leaks, and that leak has since been backed up by the Football Kit Archive. 3 Added Minutes has been unable to independently verify the leak at the time of publication.

What Newcastle’s new third kit for the 2026/27 season looks like – according to leaks

The new Adidas third kit, which can be seen in apparent marketing photographs in the social media post above, comes in a colour never before seen on a Newcastle shirt – a pale lilac, apparently officially called ‘powder plum.’

Although Newcastle have had two change strips which feature purple in recent years they’ve never had a lilac shirt in their history – but dark purple trim appears on the collar and the ends of the sleeves, as well as the traditional triple stripe across the shoulders which appears on the majority of Adidas kits.

The club crest and manufacturer’s logo will appear in their usual positions on either side of the chest and are also set to be picked out in dark purple, but the leak suggests that there won’t be any other design features worked into the new jersey save for a small image of a magpie on the back of the neck – a reference, of course, to Newcastle’s nickname.

The shorts, likewise, will be lilac with dark purple trim at the bottom, with Adidas stripes down the sides. The socks are not shown in the leaked photographs.

Fans bemoan ‘boring’ third kit with all three designs for new season now revealed

The initial response from Newcastle supporters on social media has been distinctly lukewarm – while the new colour hasn’t been an issue, the plainness of the design has been criticised by several fans.

One described it as “boring” – adding a word that we wouldn’t typically publish – while another noted that it looked like “a training kit, not a proper match kit.”

The new third kit has at least drawn less criticism than the home jersey, which has now been officially released with its barcode stripes and bright blue trim. Few shirts released for the new campaign have proven less popular than that particular effort.

The away shirt is also now available for sale and seems to be the most popular of Newcastle’s new designs, a dark blue number with a brickwork pattern woven into the fabric which is intended to resemble the façade of St. James’ Park.

It doesn’t seem as though Newcastle, who will have a new look in terms of kits, squad and manager, will be the most fashionable team in the Premier League this season.
